Unity piece

Michelle, on March 14, 2018 at 1:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
Hey all! I’m having trouble coming up with what I want to do for a unity piece. I know I don’t want to do candles. But I was wondering what some other options were. I saw a unity cross, the cord of three strands, the sand and I’m still toying with those. Does anyone have any other unique unity pieces they are doing or any ideas?
Thanks!!

We’re doing a love lock. I found it on Etsy. There’s a reading that goes with it. You and groom close the lock on the display and it symbolizes how love, like the lock can not be broken. There is no key that comes with it.

I'd toyed with a sand ceremony but it didn't quite touch me personally like I wanted. Then I saw someone on here post about a wine ceremony and oh lord that's it. FH and I are all about our wine. We actually got engaged in vineyards in Tuscany. He and I are so excited about the idea now! Here are some other options to explore: https://www.confetti.co.uk/inspiration/alternative-unity-ceremony-ideas

    I've heard of:

-Unity glass- glass shards mixed together and then sent to a company to be made into a bowl/vase/ornament

-Artwork- My FH and I are making two halves of the same picture and putting them together in a frame, two colors of paint dabbed on a canvas during the ceremony (not for indoors)

-Spice blend- If you like to cook you can make a custom spice blend (doesn't have to be just salt and pepper)

-Lego- two halves of a lego statue put together

    -Wine blends

-Plant potting- Dirt from 2 important places to you both gets mixed in one pot

    -Coffee bean or tea blends

We are going to do Unity in Glass. Pricey but in the end you have a beautiful vase or sculpture made from your ceremony glass.

My Fiance and I just completed our unity rope cross. I loved the meaning behind it and it was actually very easy to make!

If you have any interest in science or chemistry, we did a unity crystal. It's now a little night light in our living room that we turn on overnight or for horror movie night.

I have seen unity wine before. We didn't like the idea of a candle and went with the sand option to match wedding colors and the beach theme of wedding.

We plan on doing the unity cross since it will be outdoor ceremony on by the beach so plenty of sand already there and candles would get blown out. It is something that can be displayed in home afterwards and not get spilled or broken. Never seen the rope ideal before but I would consider that for us as well

I did a unity candle set at my first wedding, and FH did sand at his. Our theme is Think Geek, so naturally we decided to do a Star Wars unity ceremony.

I ordered snap-together models that make noise (yep). He's building the Mellenium Falcon. I am building a Tie Fighter (no I don't know why I gotta be the dark one, except that his ring tone for me is The Imperial March). The officiant has a speech worked out about the Light and Dark side of the Marriage Force.

But I'm guessing we are probably the only yahoos in the land of the nearly married who want to do such a thing Smiley tongue.

We are doing the wine ceremony, which works well since we are getting married at a winery.

I had never heard of it until our pastor brought it up, I was going to pass up the unity part.
