We’re doing a handfasting for the unity part of our ceremony. It’s an old Celtic tradition, so it’s a nod to his Scottish and my Irish heritage, and it’s also something that has been adopted by many pagans, so it’s very meaningful to my spirituality. There are so many different options that people do now. The sand ceremony is beautiful if you’ve considered that.

We are doing a handfasting ceremony. None of the other options really appealed to us.

We're thinking of doing hand prints on a canvas for ours. Gotta have wet wipes for clean up though!

There are SO many options. On one of these forums someone was talking about making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, someone posted they were doing a wine ceremony and another a beer ceremony, I’ve also seen a lock ceremony. I think it’s most important that it is something that’s right for you and your fiancé, hopefully you’ll get some good ideas that will spark something for you!

We are just having a poem read.

I'd recommend avoiding candles. I've seen it done and it can be quite humorous. But probably very frustrating for the bride.

We put a small heart puzzle together. We love it. It has each of our names on a piece and the word family with wedding date in the center.

We're making a "fight box." So we'll get a box a bottle of wine for me and a bottle of rum for him and each write a letter. During the ceremony we'll put it all in the box and nail it shut. We'll open it when we have our first major fight or on our first big anniversary, whichever happens first. Each time we open it we'll write new letters and add them to the box for the next fight or anniveraary.
