UNITY CROSS

Baranpartyof2, on September 8, 2016 at 11:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Is anyone doing the unity cross ceremony? If so, are you playing music or a song when you assemble it? Or is your officiant speaking about the meaning of the unity cross while you put it together? Completely clueless about this one and the thought just crossed my mind

I've never seen the unity cross before, but during most unity ceremonies I've seen, the officiant speaks during it.

"The Unity Cross is a unique way to celebrate the joining of a bride and groom together as one. This multi-piece sculpture is to be assembled during the unity service of the Christian wedding ceremony, representing the joining of two into one. The groom places the outer crossin the wood base."- Google.

Basically, the woman is the inside cross sculpture and the man represents the outside boarder cross. There are three pins that hold them together and they represent the father, son and the holy ghost.

I just saw this on Facebook the other day and FH and I loved the idea. We are looking into doing this instead of the sand ceremony we originally thought of doing. It's very different, unique and in line with our beliefs.

As soon as I found this idea, I couldn't wait to get it! Its very different and I didn't want to do the sand ceremony or candle. Plus it's going to be very pretty in our home!

That's so cool! I've never heard of a unity cross before but I am doing a unity candle. As we are lighting the candles we will have our harpest play "the prayer." I thought that would be very fitting for the moment.

Very neat idea, I would suggest getting it out beforehand and practice putting it together so you're not at the alter fumbling around with it.

I've officiated a wedding with the unity cross and I was explaining as the couple was assembling. Music would have drowned out the explanation.

We are doing a unity cross! Smiley smile Our Pastor is going to explain while we assemble then join us immediately after his explanation so we can do communion as well. we will have instrumental of 'In Christ Alone' playing softly at first and then louder during communion as his mic will be turned off for that part.

We did one but there was no music...our pastor spoke through it to explain the meaning of what we were doing. We used a different one from the one you pictured though (also from the same Unity Cross company though) and I think some of the meaning that he spoke about was a little different from what they say about the ones that are swirly in the middle. Plus, I liked the look of this one better, lol Smiley smile
