Unity ceremony blended family

I have seen the sand ceremony for blended families but are there other things that can be used rather than sand?
I have a 11 year old daughter and a 3.5 year old son that will join in the ceremony. My son is special needs and is not able to pour sand. Anyone with a special needs child that has any ideas?

Could be really neat to plant something together - maybe you each plant an herb in a windowsill style herb garden, or working together you plant a tree sapling in a beautiful container.

Sorry, hit reply too soon! If pouring or helping with the plant is a challenge for your son with special needs, he can always have a special task like holding the container/pot!

Hi ! I think a handprint is a great idea ! Or planting a tree. Or making a box/time capsule together....?

Well, if you do something like this... Their hands don't seem that dirty... if you put vaseline on, as recommended, it should'nt be a huge problem.

And there are some other pruducts that are dirty free ;-) There's a thing like this to make pictures, apparently it does not stay on hands or feet :

I've heard of people getting custom puzzles done. They each put their piece in and then it's framed. Since you would have four pieces, they could be pretty sizeable if that would help your son?
