Off and on for 2 years maybe? It didn't really take that long to plan. Once we had the theme in mind, all the ideas on how to customize aspects followed. Plus we were in full planning mode in the Spring of 2020, then our original date got put on hold. Now plans are for October 2021. This whole past year I wouldn't count as 'planning' really. We just hit pause until the world calmed down.

I’m happy to hear that he has a few people on his side that will be able to attend in person.

That is perfectly fine, as long as you found one that you love and you can afford.

That is very cool, I know I found one and it is a rose in the middle and everyone can sign a petal and drop it in.

I’m sure your guests will love it, especially if there are any children at your wedding. I am sure the animals will love it if they get to walk around your wedding.

That’s so cool. I never even thought about rose petals. The tricky part is going to be getting them dropped in the correct direction that’s my biggest concern lol.

I know I was supposed to get married November of 2020, then with all of the restrictions we decided to push it to March 2021, even though some restrictions lightened up, we decided to push it to October 2021. We decided October is a safe date.

I don’t think there would be a problem with dropping the rose petals in.

I’m afraid that people will sign it and just drop it and not make sure the name is facing towards the side we can see

It's an ancient marriage ritual that originated in Scotland in the 16th century. They ask the couple to hold hands, and then they wrap either a cord or a ribbon around the couple's hands. It's actually where we get the phrase "tying the knot" from.

It's just the carousel, the venue is Bear Mountain State Park and at the Inn they have a Merry Go Round that is open to the public during the day, but they host events at night!

Honestly my biggest issue is finding another catering service. Since the one my venue was using no longer is working with my venue and they informed me today that I will need to hire my own catering service.

So many ways you can personalize, just think about things that are special to you, both as individuals and as a couple. We are doing a few things:

-Getting married on our 10-year dating anniversary

-We love to travel and have taken many trips together over the past 10 years, so instead of a traditional guestbook, we had custom postcards printed with photos from our trips that our guests can write notes on instead. Then, we can either keep them in a beautiful box, or perhaps do a clear float frame to display both the photos and the notes!

-I am ALL about the dessert, so we chose to do cake plus some mini desserts. The mini desserts in particular speak to our favorite flavors (a passionfruit tarragon macaron as a tribute to my favorite macaron from Paris, key lime tartlets as a shout out to my fiance's signature bake, etc.) We're also getting a fun cake topper to look like us where the groom is kissing the bride's forehead because that's something that we do a lot.

-I'm planning to either wear or tie my grandmother's pearl necklace around my bouquet to honor her memory

-Music choices!!! Obviously the first dance song is a great opportunity to make it personal to you, but you can have fun with ceremony songs too! We both love Lord of the Rings and joke that we are short like hobbits so I think I'm going to walk down the aisle to VSQ's version of "Concerning Hobbits" haha.

-My fiance was raised by a single mom but his aunt was a huge part of his upbringing, so we are having her do a reading during the ceremony. I also had an aunt that I'm very close with so she is doing a second reading. The readings themselves are a great way to insert some personality! We picked one silly/quirky reading and one more sincere reading.

-My best friend's mom (who is like a second mom to me) is officiating for us!

    1. My fiancé and I met doing community theatre, so instead of assigning guests table numbers, our tables will be names of shows we have performed in (either together or as we grew up). I'm making signs for each table that have the program and pictures from said show.

    2. We both collect shot glasses...everyone says that favors are a waste of money, but my fiancé loved the idea of us doing shot glasses as our favors (and whenever he got into ANYTHING wedding related, I ran with it)

    3. Our rehearsal dinner is at the bar we went to right after we got engaged--he had a group of friends waiting there to surprise me!

    4. A mutual friend is our Officiant! Not all that unique, but she is definitely making the ceremony personal, which I love!
