Unique touches

What is something unique you will be doing/having during your ceremony or reception?

We will be locking up love letters to each other to open on our 1st anniversary. I saw this on 4 weddings but they were gonna open theirs up on their 10th anniversary but I can’t wait that long lol

I love the letter idea, so cute! Our whole ceremony was very personalized. We had personalized ceremony programs that I made, a memorial table, and we hung an elk skull from the first elk I ever harvested on the wall above our ceremony space. Our dog was our dog of honor and walked down the aisle & laid up front for the whole ceremony. I wrote the whole script with the officiant, he mentioned our grandparents (who all have passed), a note to our parents, and we said our own vows.

That’s so sweet! We wrote letters to each other that we read the morning of Smiley smile

I think the most personal touch we had was having my brother officiate our ceremony, and having self-written vows. I know that’s not “unique” (I mean plenty of people have someone they know officiate and write their own vows) but I really feel like that was the most special thing we did and I think it made our ceremony feel really unique and personal.

And for fun, we played the Star Wars theme as our recessional song 😂

Also, not my wedding, but I went to a friend’s wedding where the couple had been together for 10 years, and they met at a job in high school, and my friend (the groom)‘s awkward way of flirting with his now-wife (he was 16 lol) was sneaking her twizzlers at work hahaha, so they had jars of twizzlers all over the place at their wedding reception which I thought was such a cute and personal touch Smiley smile

We had personal vows, and our officiant was a friend of ours, so his sermon/ceremony was highly personalized.

But I'm the "swordfight at the reception" bride, so that was our unique thing!

I love this idea! I have not thought that far ahead yet! But hopefully I'll figure something unique to do for ours.

How special ♡ We are also incorporating our dog by having the ring bearer walk him down the aisle an shaving him sit up there with us. I alos love the idea that you included family members who have passed in your vows.

We are doing the wine box ceremony. I have never seen this done before. Just trying to figure out wording and how to slip it into our ceremony.

We are huge Halloween and horror movie buffs, so we were sure to include little touches of that on our special day (especially since we got married 4 days before Halloween and it's the thing that bonded us the most while we were dating). Our cake topper was two zombies in a heart going towards each other (made of wood, just an outline, no gore or anything), each guest got a masquerade mask to wear, the table cards were actually baby pumpkins that I tied their placecards to, etc. I got a lot of compliments about how we pulled fall/horror/Halloween into the wedding without being trashy about it. Our officiant is my husband's cousin and she wore vampire teeth and a beautiful black velvet cape (only we could really tell). It was awesome!
