Unique Fall Center Pieces

My wedding's in December so I'm not doing this, but my florist makes centerpieces with pumpkins. Basically she hollows out the pumpkin, the way you would if you were going to carve a jack o' lantern, and uses it as a vase for flowers. I don't remember what kind of flowers she used, but I think dried flowers and/or pampas grass would be pretty.

You could probably DIY these, although you'd have to do it just days before your wedding so the pumpkins don't rot.

Have you picked out a wedding style yet (e.g. boho, classic, minimalist)? I love the idea of adding fruit to a table centerpiece. Some fall fruits include: pomegranate, fig, apple, persimmon, kumquat, grapes, squash, pumpkin, blueberry. Here is a design using persimmons with marigolds (flowers): Persimmons; apples and nuts: Brides.com. I also like the dreamy whimsy of dried flowers with tumbleweed or pampas grass. Perhaps you can find faux or paper dahlias. Best wishes.
