Uneven amount of bridesmaids to groomsmen

Natasha, on March 17, 2017 at 4:34 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

So, I know its not a big deal to have the same number of bridesmaids and groomsmen but what are your opinions? I have 5 bridesmaids and my fiance has 4 groomsmen. I'm thinking of having the groomsmen stand at the altar instead of walking down the aisle with the bridesmaids. And then at the end when everyone leaves, having everyone walk down separately, one at a time in a pattern (BM, GM, BM, GM.. etc) Thoughts? Different ideas?

Honestly, you can do whatever you want. Every eye is waiting to see the bride. The GM generally stand in the front while the BMs walk the aisle prior to the bride. For the recessional, it's totally fine for a GM to have one BM on one arm, and one on the other. Easy, and then everyone else pairs off. Honestly, no guest will care. This is such a non-issue, so don't sweat it.

I like your idea. That's a nice alternative and Rachel D is right- everyone's eyes are on the bride anyway so do it however you like! Looks like I'll be having uneven amounts too so it's great to have options I didn't think of! So thank you! Good luck!

Haha, this is one of those small issues that doesn't really matter, is no big deal ... and yet somehow keeps you up at night, right?

Our wedding party is a male MOH, female BM, male best man. The Best Man will stand with FH at the front of the alter, processional will have BM and MOH walk separately. Recessional, will just have the 3 of them walk off behind us, not going to pair them off or anything.

We have the same thing! 5 bm and 4 gm. We are just thinking that one will walk down with two ladies, one on each arm.

I'm having an uneven party too, I never thought of them walking down after the ceremo ny boy-girl-boy-girl! I was going to have one of the guys pair up with 2 girls then the rest one and one. Great idea though! Honestly after the ceremony is done and we walk back down, I don't care what they do lol

I am having an uneven bridal party too. Three groomsmen and five bridesmaids. We are having the bridesmaids walk down by themselves, and at the reception 2 groomsmen will have 2 bridesmaids, one on each arm.

You do what you want; I've had VERY uneven bridal parties; they just stand! Most of my couples choose to have the groom's side (or the other bride/groom's side) come in and stand, and the people accompanying the bride walk up the aisle one by one. Leaving? No one is really paying attention after you leave, honestly. Let them walk down in pairs and one woman gets two guys!

Is one of those BM your MOH? Because if so, she could walk down first by herself.
