Undoing dress alterations

Erica, on June 7, 2016 at 7:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 2

Hi!! I am contemplating ordering a used wedding dress (stillwhite.com). The bride was ordered a size 12 and had it taken in. I would be ordering about the same size but I'm nervous it will have been taken in too much. Is it possible to take OUT a dress (undo the alterations)? Has anyone had experience with this? Thanks in advance!!

It depends on how they did the alterations. If there was any material taken away during the process, it's probably not possible. If you want to buy used, I would buy at least a size up just in case you do need alterations.

I would ask the seller to provide you with her bust, waist and hip measurements so that you can compare to your measurements. A size 12 comes in a lot of different shapes. If all of her measurements are equal or larger to yours, you could risk it. If they are smaller, it's probably not worth it.
