Underneath it all

Amanda, on February 9, 2019 at 2:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29

So, I know the wedding dress is one of the biggest decisions us ladies will be making for our wedding day. But have any of you started thinking about what you are wearing underneath? I want something that will make my figure look BAM buuuuut I also want something ~special~ for the wedding night - even though I know most people say they are too tired to get busy after the long wedding day. So are you ladies going for practical or for sexy? Or is there some magical combination out there that I should know about?

I’m going with Spanx bodysuit due to exposed back and nylons with garters as under garments... I’ll wear underwear but not any other chest support

Depending on your dress you might want to just have cups sewn in

I’m just focussing on the best underwear for the dress.
I asked my FH if I should bother getting something ‘nice’ and his response was ‘why bother’ so I’m not.
Might you do want wedding night clothes why not buy something different to wear afterwards?

I’m getting cups sewn into my dress for a little umph, but I’m not wearing anything else fancy. I think I’ll just bring things to change into once we get into our suite. I want to be as comfy as possible during the day (hence why I’m not going to wear a bra with the dress)

I did wear a pretty white thong but just because it felt bridal. Id go for comfort and practicality under your dress and change into something after.
My husband didn’t help me take my dress off so he doesn’t even know what I had on underneath, lol.
And for what it’s worth, we were tired but made time to “get busy” because it was important to us. It’s what ever you make of it, not what anyone else does or doesn’t do.

I just wore a white lace thong, had cups sewn into my dress. I changed and added a garter before “that night”

I'm not wearing a bra (won't need it with my dress and the back is exposed anyway), and I'll just wear comfortable underwear. My wedding will be outdoors so there's a good chance I'll just be hot and sweaty all day. No need to wear some fancy underwear just to sweat in. I'll just change into something nicer once we're finally alone. Not like it'll make a difference to him.

I think it depends on your dress. My dress really doesn’t require anything, I’ll have regular underwear, my garter will be a secret, and then my bra cups are sewn in. I have wedding night lingerie but that’ll be for later. No way I’m wearing it all day, i couldn’t wear it under my dress anyway.

Comfort and shape support are my ideal. Change into something cute if you want.

Omg, I am having a fall wedding and that is exactly what I am going for - although more slim A-line than fit and flare. I ended up going for Mariah by Maggie Sottero & Rebecca Ingram, and adding lacy draped sleeves

I think I am going to go with practicality and then change in to something special at the end of the night. Sounds like the best idea. Also I want that shapewear!

This is an interesting question. When David's Bridal told me I had to wear my "underneath" when I came in to buy my dress, and they do the adjustments (just had it hemmed) I had a huge "?"

I had no idea what they were talking about. I ended up wearing skin colored underwear, and bra. My bra had clear straps just in-case. Otherwise, that was it. After buying my dress, I'm still sticking with it. I want to be comfortable, and my fiance doesn't care about what's underneath when it gets down to it. He knows what I look like and will take it all off either way. If it's easier for him he's happier, ha!. Though our wedding is at Noon, and we'll be going to our cabin to change and "get busy" before we meet our parents for dinner that night, so we won't be in our wedding clothes for long, unless we decide to stay in them while we go mini golfing and go kart racing before dinner, ha! Still a good idea I think, we only wear these clothes once, right?!

So it's entirely up to you. What do you want? If you want something sexier than go for it! Whether you and your FH "get busy" after the wedding, what really matters is that you feel sexy on your wedding day.

    That's my opinion, good luck!

I wore nothing but the most comfortable pair of granny panties. We knew sex would not happen, so I never once gave a thought past my comfort. My dress made me look amazing without anything under it.

So I am going with practical/comfortable/useful to hold it all in lol

My theory has a few parts.

    1. We really will be too tired/drunk to do anything after

    2. We live together and have for 5 years... We can go without for 1 special night

    3. Sexy will not hold this hot mess together! lol

    4. Even if we do want to "be romantic" I will want to remove the sweaty undergarments (my dress is large and heavy and has a lot of layers :/ lol) and maybe even shower so I can always put prettier under-things on then

Definitely practical. If, by the off chance, we decide to be intimate, I’ll clean up and change into something else.

The only thing I am wearing underneath is a pair of blue silk undies that say I Do on them and my garter. I don’t want to do anything else cuz I feel like I would be uncomfortable.
