“Underdog” dress?

Rachel, on August 10, 2020 at 9:29 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
How many of you went into trying dresses all but certain you were going to pick a particular style but ended up going with something entirely different? I’ve been compiling my list of dresses that I want to try on when I go inTo the boutique and most of them are ballgown style, but I have a couple mermaid styles and one long sleeve dress that I also want to try on that I absolutely love so my final dress choice might go in an entirely different direction. How many of you went with a wild card/underdog dress choice that was different than your first choice?

My dress was entirely different from what I thought I would go with.

I went into dress shopping assuming that I would likely buy an A-line dress, though was open to trying on other options. I was not interested in either mermaid dresses or ball gowns. I ended up leaving with a mermaid dress - definitely not what I thought I'd buy!

I’m thinking that might happen to me! I love ballgowns and it’s what I’ve always dreamed of wearing, but I have a soft spot for the mermaid style! I won’t know for sure until I try both styles on, but the mermaid has always intrigued me!

Me! The dress that I purchased was nothing like the dresses that I thought I would choose from. My mom actually picked out my dress and I was iffy about it but once I tried it on I knew it was it!

Definitely try on both styles! I also recommend trying on other styles too, even the ones you think you don't want. It's crazy how different dresses can look once you try them on! Happy dress shopping!

My dress was definitely different than I planned. I went in with one idea and walked out with the complete opposite. That's why it's so important to go in with an open mind.

The one I chose was completely opposite from what I thought I liked, wanted, and went shopping for.

I thought I wanted a mermaid style but when I tried it it didn’t look good on me so I ended up with an A line

I went in being forced into ballgowns. Some were nice but not what I wanted. Tried on a mermaid and fell in love but ended up buying a fit and flare.

The whole time dress shopping online before I tried any on I thought that I wanted a ball gown with tulle or something poofy like that, but every dress I tried on like that I absolutely hated on me. I also never thought I wanted a strapless dress. I ended up with a A-Line strapless lace dress that I absolutely LOVE and can't stop looking at pictures of me in it!!

Definitely try on ALL the dresses lol. They say you should try on dresses that you think you might not even like, just to make sure. I know I didn't envision myself in a ballgown, but I still tried it on just to be sure.

    Me me me!

I had a list of dresses to try and randomly picked one up at the end.....and that last dress is now the dress for my big day. Try on everything and widen your scope when you're on the search, its amazing what you'll find

My dress was exactly the silhouette I expected to want. I did try on a bunch of different ones, though, including silhouettes I knew I wouldn’t like. It was important to me to be certain. I’m pretty decisive when it comes to dresses for important events (like balls), though. I knew as soon as I put the dress on!
Go in with an open mind and try on multiple different styles. You never know!

Omg me 100%. Going in my mind was set on a fitted, strapless, lace detailed dress. I tried it on and absolutely loved it, I was sure it was the one. Then I tried on a plain, silk, off-the-shoulder, ballgown and instantly knew it was my dress. I was so surprised at myself!
