Unconventional Wedding Registry Ideas

Christelle, on September 30, 2019 at 1:24 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10
We need some help figuring out what to put on our registry. We already live together in a small apartment with little storage space. So we have what we need and don’t really want to get a bunch of things we don’t need that will take up a lot of space.
People have recommended before that we do an “adventure fund” type thing for our honeymoon instead, but I am waiting to hear back from grad schools and fingers crossed I will be in classes when we get married next year. So no honeymoon for us.
Things we already added were some basic updated kitchen supplies that will replace some worn things we already have, hiking/camping equipment (an expense we haven’t wanted to spend on our ourselves but we would love to use often), and a few little decor things like artificial plants and photo frames.
Do you all have any other ideas or suggestions?

I’ve seen some weddings with a jar for gift cards/ cash. Labeled “starting our life together” or other titles like that, basically so you can buy what you want, use it on things you need.

We’re in the same boat. We bought some land with a single wide trailer on it that we’re living in until the land is paid off and we can build our dream home in a couple years. We also have a 5 y/o son together, so space is limited and I can’t really add a whole lot to our registry. I have one started on amazon and have things added like a kit for scrapbooking our wedding pictures (I’m very crafty and do this sort of stuff), I have a welcome mat on there, I also added some pretty silk hangers that I’ll be able to use to display my dress (if they’re bought for us). Most of the stuff I have on there is organizational lol, because that’s what we desperately need. I keep trying to think outside the box, but it’s sooo hard. Good luck & congratulations! 💕

Instead of racking your brain trying to think of things to register for, I would just stick with what you really want or need. Once those items are purchased, guests will gift cash and you can use/save it for whatever you want.

Zola has a lot of gift cards & games for registry options! We registered for a few games, golf equipment, a yoga mat, & several gift cards (Delta, Stub Hub, Lowe's, Fandango, Southwest, Hotels.com, and Petco)! My MOH & her husband LOVE board games so they registered for a lot of board games & got a lot of them.

I like the idea of gift cards. or what pp said in that if you don't have a lot of items, people will just gift you cash [hopefully].

We had camping & hiking things on our registry! I would just register for the things you've mentioned and have a smaller registry. The rest of the guests will gift cash & you won't be stuck having to add things just to add things.

I would just put the little things you do want and once those are gone, people will typically just give money/gift cards.

If you don't think you'll be able to travel for your honeymoon, ask for experiences in the area where you live. You could ask for gift cards to escape rooms, local breweries, improv classes, tickets to the local comedy club or theater, or cooking classes.
