Un wanted Dress opinions

Charlene, on July 22, 2020 at 8:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
Anyone else dealing with that? Like, literally people I don't know have opinions on my dress choice which is a blinged out ballgown. I orginally I thought I wanted a mermaid styled dress but over the years (4) I've had a change of heart and really want to go for that Cinderella type look. When am I going to have another opportunity to wear a dress like that? All the opinions are the same. The type of dress is either old school, not what's "trending" or nobody's wearing them like that anymore or only young brides. I'll be 30 freaking 2 at the time of my wedding what exactly does to old mean😅😅😅. Their reasons why I shouldn't get it, aside from the last is exactly why I want it. I've been to half a dozen weddings since I first got engaged and all the brides dresses looked exactly the same, I wasn't wowed and their dresses were pretty nice but pretty much the same🤷🏾‍♀️. Anyone else dealing with something like this?

I think everyone will always have an opinion when it comes to your wedding in general cause everyone just has a different sense of style or different likes and dislikes Or different thoughts for what they think should and shouldn’t happen. Just gotta shake it off cause it unfortunately doesn’t go away.

You wear what YOU want!! You're right; it's YOUR day and when else will you get the chance to wear a dress like that!?!? I think those dresses are fun and pretty, too!! I've been to 3 weddings in the past 4 years where girls wore poofy dresses; you get to choose what you're going to feel comfortable in and what you're going to feel beautiful, classy, and desirable in!

When else will I have the chance to do ______, is exactly how I’ve approached wedding plans lol. Everyone always has opinions, the ones that should matter are yours and your fiancé’s.
My FH specifically requested no giant ball gown, which was the first thing or four year old picked when we went dress shopping lol, but even if I had gone with that he would have told me I was beautiful in it and probably wouldn’t have even said a thing when the poofy skirt was between us trying to dance lol.
I say, be a princess! People who are negative about it should have learned in kindergarten that if you don’t have anything nice to say you shouldn’t say anything at all- especially to a bride.

You wear what you want and what makes YOU feel beautiful! Stop fretting about other people’s opinion. Try on all the styles and the one that speaks to you and lights you up is the winning dress. Remember, you are the focal point NOT the dress. The dress is your accessory there to make the crowd watch you. The dress should wear you not the other way around.

No matter what your final style is, you will look beautiful!

Well, not that their opinions were rude. More like they were trying to force their opinions on me. I feel like some people get those mermaid dresses to show off their figure and for me thats a everday thing. I literally wear bodycon type dresses for every formal occasion so for my wedding, old school or not trendy as it may be. That gown is my number one choice. Plus I'm getting a reception dress that's mermaid style.

Good thing they won’t be at my wedding. 61 years old bling bodice, bling straps, and a big bunch of tulle with a looong train. Yep. Pretty much princess. And has blush coloring. Talk all you want I love it!

Frankly, I think ball gowns are stylish and traditional. They never go out of style. Rock it!

I totally know how you feel. It was just me and my mom who went dress shopping on a whim one day when I had planned (before covid) to have my mom, sister, MIL and fiancés grandmother to come along. I didn't think I was going to find the one but I as soon as it was on I felt happy and just knew. They put a veil on and I felt like a bride. My mom kept saying how good I looked in it but said that's not something she thought I would choose. She thought I would have chosen a nice and simple plain satin gown. I had tried some on but they just didn't wow me. Point is, who cares what other people think. If it makes you feel beautiful go for it!!
