Ukulele wedding singer or Bluetooth speaker

Brittaney, on November 9, 2019 at 11:59 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if I can get some advice. My fiance and I are getting married in Maui in June 2020. The venue that we are going to have it at, is going to let us use bluetooth speakers to have while I walk down the asile. Should we have a bluetooth speaker, or a person singing and playing the ukulele. The only reason why we are in a predicament, is because we are paying for it ourselves. The price of the ukele singer is 380.

If budget is an issue I would go with the Bluetooth speakers and play the music you want.

I think the ukulele could be a nice unique touch but if money is an issue, just go with the music thru Bluetooth.

Omgosh I'm in a similar situation. I'm torn. It would definitely be an extra touch to make your wedding stand out. Where else is more appropriate for an ukulele! So cool!! However, on the other hand, my fiance's sister got married on the beach in St. Thomas, USVI. She had a violinist. You could barely hear what the lady was playing, and now thinking back, we don't remember much about her except she was there. I'll be following this thread to hear what others say. We're having a beach wedding. We were quoted at $300 for guitar w/ amp and vocals. Includes 15 min of seating music, then the processional, which will be my flower girl then me, no bridal party. Or, we could purchase a portable speaker for around 500, plus get to take it home and use it for future events. My concern with the speaker is, will it be loud enough over the waves crashing and whatever other background noise? I really want my entrance to be a "moment". The other downside is, I'm not sure who I'd have controlling the music, such as changing songs and stopping it. We only have about 10 guests joining us. I'd hate to take away the moment from someone else to give them a "job". Please feel free to give me advice too!! Lol

Ukulele singer would be so amazing but like you mentioned, you wouldn't have to worry about the cost for a Bluetooth speaker. You can always use the Bluetooth speaker and just play a traditional native Hawaiian song (if that's what you are wanting to go for). It won't be a live performance but it would still have the same affect, I think.

Having a soloist (or DJ) is really helpful for the ceremony so nobody has to fuss with a playlist. For that quote, how long will the ukulele player play? Usually their minimum is 1 hour but their cost for an extra 30 minutes might be really reasonable then you could have him/her play for the ceremony (usually 30 min) AND cocktail hour (60 min) which would be so fun and different!!! Playlist for dinner is fine.
