Uh oh!!!

on December 28, 2019 at 8:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
So my family has always went to the same seamstress (even for their weddings) I trusted her - based on her work with us in the past —
Fast forward 5 years —- I have not been to her BUT just found she completely DESTROYED my further sister in laws dress 7 years ago!!! The entire back fell apart and they had to improvise since it was a week before the wedding and take it elsewhere for last minute fixings. NOW I AM BESIDES MYSELF. I have time - wedding is Nov. 8, 2020. But it’s just a bummer because I’m torn at - finding someone else because of this one HORRIBLE thing lol every brides nightmare. Or sticking with her bc we have always went there and have never had a problem — 😬😬😬🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ HELP!!!!! Also my dress needs to be COMPLETELY resized. Basically making a new dress considering its 4 or more sizes too big 🥺🥺😱 please any advise would help. My FH said “go with your gut” like that helps lmao my gut is just full of anxiety!

My advice- find someone you can trust. Even if you go to her and she pulls it off fine... you’ll be filled with anxiety during the entire process. Save yourself the stress.

I’d go with who the bridal boutique suggest.

Think about it this way: You're going to be stressed enough about the wedding as it approaches (the details, will everyone get there on time, will everything go according to plan). Do you want to be worried about your dress? Also, even if it looks wonderful, turns out great - are you going to worry about it falling apart on your wedding day?!

I know myself and I would not be able to trust using the current seamstress based on what you know now. The anxiety would kill me having it constantly replay in my head that my dress is going to fall apart on my wedding day. Like you mentioned you have time, gather some recommendations (from trusted friends, other brides in your area, the bridal boutique, etc.) and go from there. It's better to cut your losses and start from scratch then be filled with anxiety throughout the entire process.

She was number one from boutique and others in the area along with family and friends up until this one story - so part of me is like stay with her since I’ve trusted her in the past and never had a problem but now it’s my wedding gown sooooooooo idk !! Lol

Oh that is very difficult. Have you talked to your sister in law in depth about it? Like was there a particular reason it fell apart? Maybe if you had a better idea what exactly went wrong you can talk to the seamstress about your concerns!

I have ! And it was the opposite- hers was taken out to fit her - and mine needs to be taken in, quite a few sizes.. so both drastically changed

I’m thinking to still bring it to her, talk about it and also bring it to a few others before making my decision
