Uh Oh! Family Reunion Before Our Wedding

Ms2Mrs1029, on August 30, 2016 at 9:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

So I'm dreading our family reunion in a couple of weeks because I already know relatives that I haven't talked to or seen in a billion years will be asking about our wedding and wanting to know where their invitation is.

How should I respond?

Our invites have already been sent out so those who we wanted there and have invited have already received their invitations. Our guest list is closed so no more adding anyone. Just wondering how to respond without sounding like a b$#%*.

Help! Lol

"Planing is going good, oh look at uncle Fred wearing socks and sandals"

If they bring up someone that has an invite and you can't fake a call that your house is on fire, just say that the planning is going good and unfortunately due to venue restrictions you were unable to invite everyone but you wish it was different.

Go to the reunion and if someone asks if they are going to be invited, tell them guest list is set and that it's great to see all the family at this wonderful reunion.

Just blame venue capacity if anyone asks why they weren't invited.

Tell them it's a small wedding, but it's great to see everyone at the reunion.

Just say you decided to keep it small and didn't want people to have to travel for the reunion and then again for the wedding. And add how thrilled you are that you got see all the family at reunion then casually change the subject.

Awkwardddddd lol. I hate confrontation so I would just probably say wedding planning is going great! Lots to do and I am keeping busy! And then I would say nothing else.

We skipped all family functions within like 3 months of the wedding to avoid drama LOL. We are having a smaller wedding, so it would have been super awkward.
