Ugly scars

Christina , on June 2, 2017 at 7:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29

Anyone have a nasty scar that they are hiding? If so, how? I have one on my arm now and I'm so upset because I already have my dress and it will show.

If you are hiring a pro MUA they should definitely be able to help you out with this.

Have you tried any kind of scar cream before?

Maybe check with a dermatologist? I think Mederma is a pretty good scar cream.

@shannMua. No not yet, but will. My arm got infected and now a portion of it is called a keloid scar. I went to my doctor and they are giving me shots to help soften and flatten the scar tissue. so I go next month for another around of shots. Fingers crossed it helps. After this process I plan on using scar cream, which might lighten it up alittle. Do you have a recommendation for a scar cream?

@Christina Mederma is always an affordable, reliable option. If you do not mind spending a bit, Kate Somerville has an amazing scar cream called D-Scar diminishing cream, which usually works faster than mederma.

I have a burn scar on my wrist.. I'm just planning on dealing with it. I've been using Mederma but not long enough to see results yet.

@shannMua. I don't mind spending money if it helps. I'll look into kate Somerville D- Scar cream. I've tried mederma and I didn't notice a difference.

@Danielle. I've tried mederma on a different scar and I didn't see any results, but I know there are so many others creams out there. We can switch scars if you like. Lol

@ Sheri. I know my FH won't care about the scar, but I don't want it to be an eye sore to myself and others on my special day. This scar was unexcepted. But at least I'll be cancer free.

Scars are just like tattoos, but with better stories. And it sounds like you survived something to get that one. Go ahead and start getting quotes from makeup artists to cover it on your wedding day. If it is still discolored or more noticeable than you'd like, you'll be prepared when you do your makeup trial. Good luck!

I don't have advice for your wedding day, but I used emu oil on my many many abdominal surgery scars and it really did wonders. Definitely more of a long term solution but wanted to throw it out there if you prefer a natural scar cream Smiley smile

Use vitamin E oil 2 times a day on the scar. And always put sunscreen on it before you go out. E oil is basically natural mederma. It won't help the texture but it fades he pigment.

I have a huge scar under my armpit from a cyst removal (shit was the size of a baseball and beyond painful!) and it's a minuscule reason why I wanted sleeves. I use bio oil but it doesn't really work!

No one (I mean it) will be staring at your scar. You are beautiful and that is a part of you, not a blemish! Makeup can help with making the scar more flesh toned Smiley smile my sister has a scar right across her neck and got it covered up for my wedding (she wanted to) Smiley smile don't worry too much though, you are lovely!

The shots should greatly reduce the size of the scar. My FH, every cut he gets immediately turns into a keloid. Including one on his forehead. They give him injections that turn the scar flat and he also has had steroid tape in the past that reduced it.

That being said, I agree that your makeup artist could probably cover it up so that the discoloration is not noticeable. And, if it greatly bothers you, you can always ask your photographer to take your photos at certain angles where it is less/not visible.

I do agree with pps that you will look gorgeous no matter what and that no one will notice it the day of anyway
