Ugly red wall trim

Lindsay, on March 9, 2022 at 10:30 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14
Hello my venue has an ugly wall trim in the middle of the wall all around the venue that's red, how can I cover this without covering the entire wall. Would painters tape work? Our colors are black, white and gold.

Thank you

Do you have a photo of what this looks like? It would be easier to give suggestions after seeing it.

it is the trim between the windows it goes around the entire hall, we are doing curtains with twinkle lights over the windows but I just don't know what to do with the red trim, it was not red when we first looked at the hall.

    Thanks

Hmm, you could do floor to ceiling drapes like in the picture below. I’m sure that would be quite expensive though.

If your venue is OK with it, you could secure greenery (maybe some flowers too) onto it to hide it! Or maybe curtain lights on all the walls (instead of just over the windows)? For what it's worth, I don't think that the red trim will interfere too much with your color scheme, especially if you decide to have uplighting on the walls.

Thank you I might just leave it them because it is not in the budget to buy more drapes for all the walls. Thank you

I love that look but yes it is not in the budget to buy more drapes. Thank you for the advise.

Hi Lindsay. I do not think the red trim would be contrary to your striking color scheme. There was even a bride here that wanted to add red to her b/w vibe. I also read the 2022 bridal trends are highlighting decor at eye-level vantage points like tablescapes and moving away from ceiling gardens etc. And honestly wall decor and ceilings get looked at once. You can certainly use decor and lighting to highlight you, the couple, and your lovely guests. So if you design from space center and branch out, you will be successful in reducing the impact of the outermost trim. Essentially: focus decor on where you will be sitting, dancing, laughing. Rest falls away. Best wishes!

Honestly I would leave it. If you try to cover something, it does the opposite and draws attention to it. Your guests won’t notice or care because they know the venue design is out of your hands. The tulle and lights is a great option as well.

I’d say painters tape. If that doesn’t work then I’d just leave it. No one will even notice!

You have to talk to your venue and see I'd you can use draping or what can be done to hide it
