U.S. Virgin Islands honeymoon?

IndyRLS, on February 11, 2017 at 8:56 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 12

Hello! My fiancé and I are in the stages of honeymoon planning and are considering the U.S. Virgin Islands for a few different reasons. Has anyone been there before? Pros? Cons?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

    Yes! Gorgeous places!

And they are giving away $300/person to celebrate the 100th year of the countries being US territory, if you go in 2017.

I love St. Croix. It's the biggest island and the least touristy. Lots of history, fantastic beaches, lots of recreational activity options. There are many AirBnB or VRBO options but there are also tons of resorts. Enjoy and let me know if you would like any specific recommendations!

@Sarahmouche, yes I'd love specific recommendations! I didn't see any all-inclusive resorts so wondering if price if we would be spending more on a honeymoon there versus if we did an all-inclusive resort somewhere besides the Virgin Islands.

I've been on multiple cruises and I've done a few all inclusive resorts. One of my favorite Caribbean islands was St. Thomas! But you really can't go wrong with any of them.

Yes I went to St Thomas for a week.. loved it.. swimming with the fishes, the different culture, shopping, everyone seem so friendly... It was beautiful out there... As soon as we got off the plane walked into the airport they gave us free samples of alcohol Rum

My fiancé and I have been to St. Croix and we loved it. If it was up to him we would have never left. Snorkeling with Big Beard at Buck Island was absolutely amazing. We also were able to tour two different rum factories. Just be careful because they drive on the opposite side of the road, so that took some getting used to. It's great because the island is the perfect size to catch the sunrise at Point Udall and drive to the other side and watch the sunset in Fredricksted in the same day!

Loving all of the suggestions! We found an all inclusive (one of the only ones) through AAA on St Thomas for roughly $520/day for the both of us. Wondering if that's a good deal or are we able to find other all inclusive a outside of the Virgin Islands for a little better price?

    Suggestions appreciated!

Yes! We stayed in St. Thomas but took the ferry over to St. John. By far one of the most beautiful places I have ever been!

St John is wonderful. Stayed in a little boutique hotel Coconut Coast Villas, rented a jeep and drove to a different beach everyday. Fantastic beach access snorkeling which was a huge plus for us. It wasn't our honeymoon but we loved the low key aspect of doing whatever we wanted whenever we wanted. Trunk Bay is a must.

There are some great resorts there and it's gorgeous. Are you looking for an all inclusive?

Yeah, STX doesn't have all-inclusives that I know of but I think on cost it really depends how much you plan to take advantage of the all-inclusive benefits.
