Two wedding rings?

I've seen some photos online of women with 2 wedding rings with their engagement ring. Is there a reason or significance for having two wedding rings? I'm not talking about the ones where there are two identical bands flanking the engagement ring, I'm talking about ones that have two DIFFERENT bands...

I've seen some photos online of women with 2 wedding rings with their engagement ring. Is there a reason or significance for having two wedding rings? I'm not talking about the ones where there are two identical bands flanking the engagement ring, I'm talking about ones that have two DIFFERENT bands (one is usually thinner, the other wider) in addition to the engagement ring. It's not just on jewelry listings, I've also seen it in wedding photographer's portfolios, so real brides are apparently doing this. I actually think it looks super cute, but I was wondering why there would be two wedding bands. See attached picture for what I mean.

Two wedding bands for the bride can be used in the ceremony because one band is to go with the engagement ring, and the other band is for when she does not want to wear her bridal set. Sometimes the second standalone band will be identical to her husband’s, especially since a simple diamond wedding ring has become quite popular. Or the two bands are completely different, with the on-its-own band being slightly wider.

It is nice if all three rings can be stacked. This gives her three different looks depending on what she is doing and her mood. In the past, it was common for women’s bands to be pretty wide. With thinner bands now being more the norm, the bride has a few options when picking out her band(s).
