Two months married and we haven't received our photos....

Cristina, on September 14, 2020 at 2:11 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12
Our wedding was July 4th and we haven't received our photos yet. I've called and emailed the photographer wondering when we should expect our photos. No response 😕. I'm not sure if I should just wait a little longer or try a different approach. Our contract states we should have received all edited photos 45 days after the wedding.... advice?

Does your photographer have an office location where you can stop in to ask about this in person? If so, I would try that. Otherwise, email her again (so it is in writing) and remind her that the 45 days have passed, and to ask again if she has an estimated date that you'll receive the pictures. Maybe also reach out on social media if her business has a Facebook/Instagram account. If no response to that, I would wait another couple weeks to see if the pictures are sent, and then if nothing, look into legal action to either try to get the photos or your money back, since she did not meet the contract. Document all attempts to contact her (date/time, message, etc).

Are there any other methods you can try to contact them?

I tried calling him again (2nd time calling in a week) and his voicemail box is full. He doesn't have an office address on his website. I tried to message his wife on Facebook since they work together. No response yet. I would be very understanding if he needs more time, but he hasn't attempted to contact us since the wedding.

I messaged his wife on Facebook since they run the business together. No response yet.

When did you first reach out to him about this? If it was within the last week, I would maybe wait another week or so. He might be on vacation, since it sounds like he hasn't been listening to his voicemails. Has he typically been pretty responsive before the wedding? See if you get a response within the next week or two, and go from there. Also send a message to the company's Facebook page if they have one.

I’d advise them both that you’ll be seeking legal action for a full refund for breach of contract if they don’t respond in a timely manner.

I sent the first email August 15th, left a voicemail August 31st, sent an email September 8th, tried calling him today. I sent his wife an email on Facebook because they run the business together. I did sent a message to the business page after seeing your comment. I'll try again in a few days.

Before the wedding he responded to emails regarding payments and sent me an email about a week before the wedding. He was on time for the wedding. He did a wonderful job the day of, very personable and professional. I'm trying to have a little faith in him right now 😔

I'm going to wait another week. This is my next step. I expected better than this from him. He's been a photographer for a long time.

Oh wow - yeah, I definitely think he should have responded by now. Keep trying to get in contact. Maybe try calling from a number he might not recognize. Even though the deadline specified in your contract has passed, it's only been 2 months since your wedding, so it's still possible that he was super busy and hasn't quite gotten to your pictures yet (which if that was the case, he still should have told you). If you still can't get in contact over the next few weeks, look into legal action, since he definitely hasn't fulfilled his part of the contract.

Did he also take engagement photos for you? If so, how was the timing on getting those back? If he ran late on those, it's likely he's just running late on the wedding photos too.

We changed our package before the wedding to exclude the engagement session because it was scheduled during COVID shutdown. Restrictions were just letting up right before the wedding. I agree, two months isn't extremely long, but I'm worried with the non response.

I agree that the lack of response is concerning. I hope you hear back soon, and that your pictures are sent! Keep trying to get in contact with them for now. Best of luck!

    That is definitely unsettling!
I would avoid the legal threats personally... at least for another week or so. You don’t want him to just send the pictures unedited because he feels threaten. I would try him again on Friday and go from there. Best wishes!
