Two hotel blocks?

Stephanie & Chris, on February 3, 2017 at 2:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I am having a small wedding with primarily very OOT guests (think 12+ hours easily of travel time for most). Our venue is more than 20 miles from our home so we were planning on booking a hotel block very near the venue. We have the issue of people wanting to stay for a week to spend time with us, but the original hotel block is not close enough for easy visiting (not many people will have cars or be able to afford to rent them). Would it be acceptable to book two hotel blocks? One near the venue for the night of, and then one very near our home? Everyone traveling is incredibly important to us and we want to spend as much time as possible with them! Everybody want to be close to our home because we are planning lots of family style meals together.

The plus side is the hotel rooms very close to our home are incredibly cheap (don't worry, the rooms are still fantastic!)

I did 2 different hotel blocks for my wedding. We are getting married outside Savannah, so one hotel is in downtown Savannah, and one is by the airport. This way guests that may be staying longer or have more free time while in town can pick where they'd like to be located by.

We did two different blocks in two different price ranges. If your guests would appreciate the two different blocks and utilize them, I don't see anything wrong with it.

I have three room blocks because I have many OOT guests with different budgets, so I gave them some options.

How small of a wedding? You could consider looking into a couple Airbnb or VRBO for after the wedding day for those looking to spend the week. Stay at the hotel for the wedding, then switch. Then they won't have to eat out every meal either.

The air bnb properties here are either super spendy bc of our location in he mountains, or 3x as far away =(. My siblings and parents opted to drive the 50 miles between the rental house and my venue though because they are all staying the longest.

We have 7 blocks.... but it's in a downtown city area so everything is walking distance.
