Two Father/daughter Dances

I have a wonderful relationship with my stepdad (who I consider my real dad) as he has been in my life since I was 2. I am trying to find a good song for our father/daughter dance but many discuss being there since birth. My sister used "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts so I can't use that.

In addition, I will be dancing with my biological dad as well. We haven't had that great of a relationship, as he has come in and out of my life over the years. We didn't really reconnect until a few years back. I am having the hardest time with finding a song to dance with him.

Any suggestions would be amazing! Especially if you have had the same experience.

I danced with my dad and stepdad, but I'm close to both of them, so not exactly the same situation. I danced to My Wish with my dad, and Stand By Me by Ben E. King with my stepdad. I danced with my dad first, then my H danced with his mom (Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel), then I danced with my stepdad, and halfway through his song, we invited the rest of the guests to join us on the floor, since it was more upbeat than the song I did with my dad, and a good way to get people back out there. I'm trying to think of what my sister danced to with our dad and stepdad... if I remember, I'll come back and tell you...

There's a whole list on this website, if you go to the "inspiration" tab. I'm sure one of them would fit. But I would just say that you don't have to take the songs so literally. If there is one that you really love, use it, even if it talks about being there as a baby.

I don’t have a close relationship with my father as an adult. My parents divorced when I was young and my dad moved out of state. I went to live with him for a few years, basically middle-high school. I’m using “Daddy Dance with Me” by Krystal Keith. I stumbled upon it in the vast world of Spotify somehow and I felt like it was the right amount of sweet but clearly for a wedding.

I'm in almost the exact same situation. Right now I'm leaning towards the way you look tonight by Frank Sinatra with my dad as we weren't close for many years so the typical songs don't fit well. Not sure about my stepdad song yet so I'm following for suggestions. ☺

If you want something heart felt and sappy I’m dancing to “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts with my stepdad. The lyrics have such great meaning. I also don’t have a strong relationship with my biological dad but I picked “My girl” to dance with my dad because it’s more upbeat and less sentimental!
