Two dresses or just one?

Sally, on January 28, 2021 at 7:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23
I’m getting married May 2022. I found my wedding dress an A-line rose gold Galina from David’s Bridal but also have a Vera Wang gown I bought 2 years ago in the hopes of wearing for a special occasion. I never got to wear the champagne sequin dress so I was thinking of changing into it for cake cutting and the other half of my reception. I do however LOVE my blush shimmery wedding dress. Thoughts please! Two dresses or just one? 1

Two dresses are very common! I know changing into another dress for cake cutting/reception is pretty much expected, that being said if your comfy in the sequins dress then do it up! It’s your day, if you wanted to change 7 times, no one could tell you no!

I think it’s total preference! As mentioned by Emily, it is pretty common nowadays for brides to have a dress change, so it wouldn’t be odd. However, as another option/idea, you could always wear the champagne colored dress for your dinner rehearsal the night before the wedding!

Most brides in real life (not wedding tv) only wear one dress because they only get only one opportunity to wear a wedding dress so wear it as long as they can.

Personally I love the A-line dress. Actually tried to find it online cus I love it so much-couldn’t find it :/. The sequins one is pretty but I get the prom feel from it. You could wear it for rehearsal or save for another occasion.

Both dresses look great on you! And as PPs have mentioned, a dress change for the reception is very common these days (the majority of the weddings I’ve been to lately the bride has changed at some point during the reception). You could always just have the dress with you and available to change into, and decide based on how you feel that night. If you find yourself wanting to change for comfort while dancing, or even just wanting an aesthetic change, you’ll have the dress available; and if you find you want to stay in your other dress, then no need to change Smiley smile

Yes! You should totally wear both dresses! The A line dress first as that looks more traditional for the ceremony and then for the reception or later on that night into the sequin dress! Looks so fun and sparkly! Smiley heart

I wasn't going to do 2 dresses because I spent so much on my first dress. But with our wedding now being in the backyard I got a second outfit for the reception.

I think you should go for the 2 outfits, it's very common and both dresses are beautiful.

I was going to suggest this as well!

Both dresses look AMAZING on you, so I get why you'd want to wear both! Wearing two dresses is becoming more common too. Personally, I love the first dress for the actual wedding because it has that bridal look/feel. The second one would be great for the rehearsal dinner like Alexa suggested!

If the second dress is too much for your rehearsal dinner, then you def. can do an outfit change during your wedding!

I would wear your wedding gown all night. The second dress does not look like it belongs at a wedding, especially on the bride.

As a bride who loved her wedding dress, I would have never considered taking it off and changing halfway through the reception.

Both dresses are gorgeous - but I'm obsessed with the A-line rose gold gown!! 🤩🥰

Is the champagne sequin dress comfortable to dance in? If so I'd definitely change into it partway through the reception (for your own comfort and the glamorous outfit change!) For my wedding I had a short white sequin dress to change into for our afterparty and ended up changing into it early mid-way through the reception because I couldn't handle my big ballgown any longer! (It was too big and too hot!)

But if it's easier to dance in the 1st dress then I'd wear the champagne sequin dress to your rehearsal dinner or change into it for your reception exit! ✨

You could wear the Vera Wang one for the rehearsal dinner (if having one) and the a-line for the wedding? Both look great!

I would wear the first dress only. It looks amazing on you and it's such a beautiful wedding dress! I agree with the others who mentioned that the second dress, while a nice dress, doesn't look very bridal (it could pass for a mother of the bride dress). I do like the idea of wearing the second dress for your rehearsal dinner though! I've only seen brides switch to a second dress on TV shows. Out of the 50+ weddings I've attended in my lifetime, I've never seen it happen in person.

I would say stick to ur wedding gown! It's beautiful and ur only going to wear it once why not enjoy the whole day in it. I've also never been one for the gown switching tradition.
