Two Dresses (heeellllppp)

Ronnie, on August 21, 2019 at 6:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Okay, y'all. I did something and ended up with two dresses. I really like the top of one because of the sleeves as I am getting married in the winter but the bottom of the other is so puffy and beautiful. The one with sleeves is cheaper, I bought it online. The one that I bought at the shop can be strapless.

I guess does anyone have advice/anecdotes? Can I take the top of one dress and put it on the bottom? Which one should I choose?

Thank you in advance!

You could likely get sleeves added to the one you purchased from the shop. Ask the shop about it.

This might be more than you can spend, but I bet if you took them both to a seamstress, they could combine the two dresses--the top of the online one combined with the skirt from the shop one. The perfect dress!!

Like I said, this may be a very expensive option. But I've seen them do it on Say Yes to the Dress.

Plenty of stores sell separates. You can get similar skirts to the big fluffy one from Watters and their sister stores for about half the cost of an average dress (starts around $900 I believe). Id look at all your choices, you don't have to have one especially made for you, you can just mix and match. Many bridal collections have these options. I was originally really into the idea of using separates so I could save money with a bodysuit and a huge nice bridal skirt.
I wish you the best of luck!

For an even cheaper alternative, David's Bridal has 1 poofy skirt separate as well.

What about adding a crinoline skirt under the long sleeved one to make it puffy?

Since you own both would it be possible for them to turn your purchased puffy dress into just the skirt or turn your purchased sleeve dress into just sleeves? BHLDN and Watters make gorgeous bridal separates by the way. Maybe you could get ideas on how to use both your dresses.

The first dress is beautiful, but I love the second one for a winter wedding. I definitely wouldn't recommend combining the two dresses, just because the materials and colors are different.

I really love the shop dress the best. Maybe ser about having sleeved added or buy a nice shawl to go with the dress?

I agree with H, maybe try winterizing the sleeveless one. You could even buy one of those faux fur stoles. Bhldn sells them on their site. You can also check on Etsy. But maybe start by asking a local seamstress if combining the two would a possibility, they could also give you an idea of the costs.

A bridal bolero on the first dress seems to solve the problem. Many options.

Is one better on you than the other? Do you feel better in one than the other?
