Two doctors

Ivy, on February 10, 2017 at 2:35 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

My parents are both doctors. How should I write out their professional titles in the wedding invitation?

I had a sample done this week and this is how it is presently written out:

Dr. and Dr. Bradley H. Cooper request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter, (my name) to (my FH name), son of Dr. and Mrs. Ryan Gosling.

My mom, of course, doesn't want her title to be disregarded. My sister suggested to "Drs. Bradley H. Cooper" what do you think WW?

Jacks hit the nail on the head.

Your mom's name is just as important as her title

^ That right there. She has a first name and a title, and both should be used.

Have you thought about asking them how they want to be recognized? Do they want their titles or are they going for a less formal atmosphere?

@EC17: she wants her title recognize but she's flexible with her first name being used. She uses my dad's last name socially and professionally.

What about FH's parents though? Should I ask his mom as well if she wants her first name included? What if she says yes, will it be Mrs Eva and Dr Ryan Gosling?

It's "The Doctors..."! Both my parents are pastors, so we did "The Reverends Mr. and Mrs..."
