Tuxedos verse suits

Th, on September 4, 2020 at 6:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Hey everyone! I was just wondering what your groom and grooms party are wearing. We are having a formal wedding and my FH is going back and forth between tuxedos and suits. He wants navy for the color and accent colors are wine/burgundy and rose petal pink. He asks my opinion and I really like suits esp because my dress is very elegant but not ball gownish, much simpler, but at the end of the day idk. He’s adamant about standing out against the groomsmen. Considering doing a tux and the groomsmen in suits all same color but different colored ties, but I’m nervous About it looking off. I’ve seen nice pics with groom in a different colored tux and groomsmen in suits, if anyone has any input. Thanks!

FH will be in a charcoal tux, groomsmen will be in light grey suits. I was actually the one that wanted him to stand out, and he liked the idea too. The guy at Men's Warehouse definitely made it seem like this was a common setup!

FH wants him and his party to wear navy blue suits. We're having a creative black tie event so of course tuxes are expected/welcomed but suits are fine as well. I wanted him to stand out more as well but he said he'll just wear a different colored tie lol. I'm sure whichever switch up you do, it's going to be fine.

I don’t think it would look off! The other thing is if he does a suit maybe he can have an extra vest inside to stand out more?

FH will be in a solid black suit: black jacket, vest, shirt, pants, tie, everything black - with gold cufflinks and tie bar for accents. Our officiant/best man (FH's brother) will be in a black suit with a white shirt, and our two little boys will be in black pants with white shirts and leather suspenders. All coordinated, but each person has their own look.

Totally fine! I am of the mindset that the groom should be the best dressed man that day! My husband wore a black tux (no tails 😂) with black bow tie and black shoes and his groomsmen wore black suits with black skinny ties and black shoes. They looked great.

If you are having a formal wedding in terms of dress code and level of service, the men absolutely should be in tuxedos because formal dress code/event expects your guests to be in tuxes and gowns. The guests should not be expected to dressed more formally than the couple of honor, in my opinion. If instead you mean traditional (not formal) then disregard.

Ok, I’ve just never seen it but I haven’t been to that many weddings. I told FH he should go to men’s warehouse and talk with someone and try things on to get a better idea of what he wants

Thanks everyone for the advice! I’m gonna try and look some more stuff up for the look online to get a better picture of what it will look like.

We were originally going to do light gray suits.

Once we got to the tuxedo rental place, we saw that the only difference between their suits and the tuxedos were mainly the buttons. We both preferred the buttons for the tuxedos, so, we switched over.
    Good luck in your search!
