Tux vest colors match the suit or a pop of color

Amc830, on April 25, 2014 at 9:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

FH and I found a kick ass tux and we were looking at color swatches n we are debating black tux ivory shirt black vest and tie with a pink rose or black tux ivory shirt with a pink vest and tie with a pink or white rose thoughts? Girls are wearing black full length gowns with pink flowers

Iʻd go black vests if there has to be one at all.

I think the colored vest looks too "Prom"ish. I'd go with the colored tie if anything.

My opinion is that colored vests are the WORST. They are prom-like and just awful looking. I have never seen a teal, pink, purple or coral vest that looks classy. They look cheap and tacky. If he is wearing a vest, it should match the color of the suit.

Also, id avoid an ivory shirt, even if you have an ivory dress. Ivory shirts look old and faded.

Ok ill be the oddball. I love colored vests. my girls are in fuchsia dresses and the guys have green vests because that's my colors. But that's your call. The pink flowers will be very nice with a black vest also.

but i'd keep the ivory shirt unless your dress is white because if you put them in white shirts with your dress being ivory then your dress will look dingy next to your husband. That's what we told every bride who wanted white shirts with her dress being ivory when I used to do tuxes . Just my two cents

I agree that colored vests look prom-y. We're having the GM in charcoal grey tux/vest, white shirt and then turquoise striped tie to match the BM. FH will be in the same tux/shirt, but with an ivory/white striped tie. It was a classy look and all will have the same look just different colors of the same tie.

I agree with Pezzy. Ivory shirts for men are just a no.

We are doing tan tuxes with matching vest, and the guys are wearing ivory shirts underneath.

Well, we have 4 different tuxes in our wedding...

Me - Black three piece tux

FH - dark grey three piece

Groomsmen light grey tux with black vest

Dads - black tux with grey vest

Dark grey here, with a pop of color for the tie/bout/socks. Here's another "no" to the ivory shirt for a guy - it just looks blah. Maybe consider a gray vest if you're trying to break up the black since your BM are wearing black dresses. Colored vests remind me of prom, too.

Since the bridesmaids are in black anyway I would definitely go with the black vests and ties.
