Tux Rentals

Jolie, on August 9, 2019 at 3:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

This might be a stupid question but I generally don't know. When the guys rent their tuxes do they get their money back when they return it or no?

I’ve never heard of anyone getting their money back so I would generally say no. Same if you rent anything else for your wedding.

No. You pay to rent it. The store keeps the money.
If they didn't, they would be providing a free service.

That would be like your landlord giving you back all the rent money you paid once you move out.

Nope, the rental cost is for the service.

Nope you pay to rent things and don't get money back.
Men's Warehouse is the most popular tux rental place.

Gotcha! I wasn't sure. Welp that changes things for sure. I really don't think the tux FH picked out at the one store is a good price for everyone. It's over $200 when the other place is $125-130. I know I wouldn't want to pay nearly $230 to rent something I am gonna give back. At least a bridesmaid dress can be worn again as is or cut to a short dress!

You should look into the suits at Macys or Jc Penny's you can find some nice suits for cheaper to the same price as renting. Smiley smile

You can outright buy suits for your guys closer to $100 if you shop during sales at Macy’s and similar department stores. Keep an eye out for ads and get a rewards card, if you shop during reward member days you save even more! I know reward cards are a pain in the neck but honestly it’s worth it for how much you’ll save for this.

It depends if you’re talking about a tux or suit rental. For a tux $200 for everything is a good price. Depending on the formality of your wedding you could purchase suit separates at a department store for cheaper if you’re only wanting a suit. I think most people know being in a wedding means purchasing an outfit you’ll never wear again. I have 14 bridesmaid dresses hanging in my closet that I never have or will rewear.

We really want tuxes so I wouldn't know how much it is to outright buy tuxes Smiley sad But I am fully going to talk to FH because he is so set on the overpriced michael kors tux and I think we should go with the other cheaper rental place. They have similar colored tuxes.

Holy crap 14 is so many! Yes, it is a tux rental at both places, everything included. I was trying to convince FH to go with the other place also because I get a free dress preservation I won at a bridal show. I shall see what he says. He really liked the michael kors one, but I think given some of his guys have already complained or backed out of things due to money $200+ is a lot. Plus I think about our dads having to get them too and I just think it's up there in price!

Keep researching to try to find another one that is comparable to the one your FH likes! Find out what specifically he likes about it, and maybe you can compromise with a nicer undershirt, tie or shoes but go with the less expensive tux

I used to work at a tuxedo rental shop. They don't get money back to my knowledge. They do get charged extra though if they don't return everything. We had them come back missing buttons, only one shoe etc.

This is a very rare case, but Men's Wearhouse will give groom's back their suite deposits. If you dress 7+ in you party, the groom gets his rental for free. When he got his suit, my FH had to pay the deposit but will get it back when all of his guys order their suits.

If your wedding isn’t black tie you can just look into suit rentals. Our groomsmen rented tuxes for around $170 on the black tux. But generally tuxes are always more expensive. They start at $600ish to buy so that’s why renting is more.

Men’s warehouse quoted us $220 per tux rental. We are considering custom suits for the same price instead.
