tux or suit for dads?

Ashley, on June 17, 2014 at 11:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

My dad died 3 years ago so my grandpa is walking me down the aisle. Im having groom in full tux and groomsmen in a vest and tie that match. What should I do for father of groom and my grandpa? I was thinking just ties that match but I wasnt sure if that would look dumb. Any ideas or suggestions?

I am trying to con my daddy into a tux, I would think He would be fine in a matching suit or a tux, depending on how formal it is.

My dad got himself a suit. They don't need to match the groomsmen.

I'm not close to my father, so I could care less what he wears. However, FH is extremely close to his father (who is a truck driver/construction worker) and doesn't even own a suit. He has asked them both to wear tuxedos which they have agreed to do. FH will buy his father's, mine will rent.

My sister keeps telling me to have my dad in a tux, my FFIL will be wearing a suit, i really don't care though. I want them looking good and feeling comfortable.

I got my dad to rent a tux! But he's adamant that he shouldn't match the groomsmen since he's not part of the wedding party (his words not mine) so the compromise was a tux with black bow tie and vest, the groom will have ivory to match my dress and the groomsmen will have the eggplant ties and vest to match the BM dresses. FIL has opted for a suit as he won't have any official duties during the wedding

All the guys wore tuxes, and we distinguished them through vest/tie colors. (our wedding colors were navy blue, plum, silver).

    groom had white vest/tie

father of bride had silver vest/tie (father of groom did not attend)

best man wore navy blue vest/tie

2 other groomsmen wore plum vest/tie

ring bearer wore light blue shirt/tie (he was so cute!!!)

We frequently see fathers and grandfathers in tuxedos. Sometimes they match accessories with the rest of the wedding party, but more often than not they will choose vest/tie selections that are basic black. The other option we sometimes see is to match the dress of their companion at the wedding (their spouse or significant other).

I plan on putting our dads and grandfathers in tuxes, but changing the vest color and tie from the lavender that I plan on putting the groomsmen in to something else

Our groomsmen are wearing black tuxes bit we didn't select matching outfits for anyone else. My stepdad and FHs dad are getting black suits and will have a boutonniere to make them stand out.

FFIL owns a tux so he'll be wearing that and my dad is going to rent a tux to match the groomsmen.

ETA: I was fine with them both wearing suits, but they want tuxes.
