Tulle wedding gowns?

Rachel, on October 14, 2020 at 5:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
Hi, everyone -

I’ve seen and heard more and more that wedding gowns with tulle skirts and tulle overlays have a higher chance of getting wrinkled. While I know that nothing can probably be done during the ceremony and reception, what are you ladies with tulle gowns doing to minimize wrinkling before the ceremony, pictures, etc.? Just curious as I have some tulle gowns on my list to try on and wanted to hear some input. 😊

Following because mine is tulle. Idk if this will help with the wrinkling, but my seamstress recommended for me to get anti-static spray. My dress has like 6 layers of tulle and apparently the anti-static spray will prevent the layers from sticking and looking messy.

I have a black tulle skirt for a photoshoot. I got a tip to hang the skirt inside my bathroom when I am taking a shower a day before and leave it hanging that night to dry . It did work. I successfully tried it with my long veil too. Good luck!

That’s what I heard as well! Something about the steam from the shower making it easier for the dress to be “smoothed out”? That’s a great tip!

I honestly took a hot bath, because my skirt has so much layers.

I was told not to steam tulle directly with the steamer, so I didn’t risk it.
Btw, I did photoshopped my tulle softer, so it looks smooth on photographs 😉

You could use a steamer but put a cloth around it so that if there's any spray or bubbling from the steamer, it won't get on the skirt. Steamers don't really get hot enough to melt or burn fabric like and iron might. Also, make sure to let it get completely heated before you use it; that way you know there's vapor and no liquid escaping. Just don't touch it directly on the fabric. Again, if you put a towel around it, you really won't have a problem at all, just change out the towel if it gets really damp/wet. I've worked in costuming in theater as well as upscale retail and as a bridal concierge.

My wedding dress was a tulle ball gown and I didn't have any issues with wrinkling. I even left it squished up in the bag until I got dress to the ceremony.

I’m happy to hear this. Mine is a tulle ball gown and while I can have my mom hang it at her AirBnB the night before out of the bag, we will then have to put it back in the bag to transport it to the venue and will only have about 20 minutes before I will put it on. 😏 Hopefully it won’t wrinkle.
