Tulle, Tobacco Cloth or ??

Summer, on August 21, 2022 at 9:16 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7
I need to buy several yards of fabric to make this building match my daughter's vision. She wants to have it draped throughout, exposing/accentuating the joists/rafters. Tulle, Tobacco Cloth or ?? 1

I can't seem to find any place that sells tobacco cloth, and the one place I found with reasonable tulle had astronomical shipping. I need to cover (6) areas that are 10 feet wide each, and need 75 feet... So, to allow for gathering, I was trying to find an inexpensive place to get 108" x 50 yard bolts ... I could just cut in half and string from ceiling. I was hoping to find some less than $200 for 6 bolts, including shipping. Any good places? Tulle, Tobacco Cloth or ?? 2

Check your local Joann. They can order fabric if they don’t have it in stock and it will be cheaper than wedding stores. Plus they frequently have sales and coupons you can apply.

You might have to purchase and set up in sections of fabric with breaks as most places won’t retail that length of fabric. The link above should be really good. If you’re dead set on not having breaks in fabric, you may have to purchase various lengths and then sew them together

One of the places I had opened in a tab had a flash sale this weekend, so when I checked, it was under $10 for a 54" x 40 yard bolt of white tulle. I ended up purchasing (18) bolts for $177, shipping included.

Their FB has some mixed reviews (really opposite spectrum of love/hate), but they have been in business ten+ years, so I will check on the order and if it arrives timely and looks good, I will post a link to them.

Not sure if this is helpful, but when I was doing wedding research found a bunch of places that would rent draping. Perhaps ask around to local party vendors to see if they would (might even help with setup).

Buy Cheesecloth from amazon and dye it with Rot Dye if you need it to be colored. It's flowy if you're going for more of a rustic or boho look.
