Trying on more dresses after already purchasing one?

Jessilyn, on October 12, 2020 at 12:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
I found my dress the first time I ever went dress shopping. I immediately had “regret” the next day - there was nothing I didn’t love about the dress but it wasn’t what I had pictured and I bought it so quickly. I’m pretty sure I can’t return it, I got it from David’s Bridal if anyone knows anything about their return policy, but from what I’ve seen online you can return up to 7 days after purchase, it’s been 2 months for me.

I tried on my dress again the other day and I still absolutely loved it, but i can’t shake the feeling that maybe there’s a dress out there that’s more “me”... I seriously want to go try on a few more that I saw online just to ease my nerves, in hopes that I won’t like any of them better... but what if I do like one of them way better?? There’s absolutely no way I can buy another and suffer the loss of that money if returning isn’t possible. I just don’t want to feel like this about my dress 😩

The most important thing for you is to be happy on your wedding day with absolutely no doubt. I know you said you love it but you shouldn't be having any thoughts of other dresses. If you really feel that way, there's a few sites that you can actually post your dress on to sell it. I got my pre-owned dress from Stillwhite. I heard that Preowned Dresses is also a good site. If you do end up trying on dresses and find a new one, make sure you stop looking or wait it out to see if there's anything else you might like before purchasing.

    Good Luck!

You obviously picked out the one you have because you loved it, right? There's a reason they say to keep shopping until you find the dress you don't want to take off, and stop looking the minute you commit to it. Don't ever feel pressured to buy something immediately unless you love it 1000%.
If you don't have anything against your existing dress, embrace it and move to the next step of your planning.

Thank you, I hadn’t considered trying to sell my dress if I happened to find another that I knew for sure was the one!

Yes that’s exactly how I feel in my dress, I don’t want to take it off, so I don’t know why i’m thinking it’s not the one. I’m just a huge overthinker in general so that doesn’t help things. Thank you

Also be aware that if you sell it, even brand new with tags, you only get a very small percentage back. Half price is as high as many will go for a pre-owned dress.

I think it’s normal if you keep thinking about it. I sometimes see a very beautiful wedding dress on social media but either the price was shocking, or I can’t imagine my short figure would look great on those photoshopped (strected) already tall models. I keep saying to myself that I have cried finding the one and will be loyal to that choice 🤪

You obviously love the dress you bought, so it must be beautiful and fit your figure.
You can always shop around and if you find a better one, you sell the 1st one. This happens pretty often with brides to be. Especially now that everything is postponed and we have more time at home to think about stuff 😬

No problem! I was in your shoes. I bought a dress and loved it but couldn't shake the feeling that it wasn't what I envisioned. I ended up cancelling the order and found my current dress. I got it 5 months ago and I still have butterflies. No questions asked. Like you said, you tend to overthink. It happens to the best of us. I'm sure your dress is stunning but IF you do end up finding a new dress, make sure its THE ONE and close your eyes other wedding dresses. You'll drive yourself crazy lol.

I think, since you tried it on again and still love it, I would just stop looking at dresses online. Yes, you can sell it, but you will take a hit on the price, even brand new with tags.

If you cannot afford to buy a second dress, do not try on anymore! Just love the dress you have and stop looking at other dresses. If you think you can swing purchasing a second dress, then go for it.

Did you purchase before or after Covid? If you purchased before then you have until the day of the event for an exchange!
