Try on braless!

MrsV1027, on November 5, 2018 at 1:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

So on my wedding night I was getting pretty uncomfortable from my corset bra. It was stabbing me in the hips and I just wanted to rip it off. The limo was taking us back to the hotels after the reception so I thought I'd have to just change completely before hitting the Vegas strip.

Then my friend said let's go in the bathroom and get that bra off now. I thought she was crazy. But I let her do it and the dress was perfectly fine without it! I wish I had tried on my dress without the bra. Could have saved $70 and hours of discomfort when I tried to sit.

So ladies. Please try on your dress without a bra! You may find you don't need one!

Ah the things you learn too late lol!

With the bra

Without the bra...I had just taken it off in the bathroom...legit no difference from the outside lol

It's funny that I'm seeing this now because the whole time I've had my dress, I always tried it on with a strapless bra. Well, I dropped it off to add some sleeves really last minute so I didn't remember the bra, so I went sans-bra at the tailor and I loved it so much. No shifting around, and everything still sat right!

Hi FutureMrsV! Thank you so much for sharing your inputs! I'm sure many brides in the community will find this conversation helpful! It's better to try something and be comfortable than to be uncomfortable the whole night when there is a simple solution! And you're right, you really can't tell a difference! I am so glad you were finally able to be more comfortable during your wedding day, and that you could enjoy the evening without the discomfort!

You can’t tell and it looks beautiful! Normally I would not go without but now when mine comes in I may have to try it without or see about getting cups sewn in

This is such good advice. My dress had built in cups and I am SO glad. It would have been really uncomfortable to have to mess around with some specialty bra all day (especially strapless bras...which are the absolute worst).

I also went braless. My seamstress suggested it at 1 fitting and it was 100% better and I was able to sit comfortably and my girls stayed put while dancing. And nobody could tell I didn't wear one.

I actually tried on my dress without a bra. My mom is convinced that I should wear a corset bra with my dress. We'll see how this will work out with I have my dress fitting next year.

Bras are the worst!! I’m looking at mostly backless dresses, so everything I’ve tried on so far has been braless and I’m loving it!!!

I’m going braless, just having my seamstress put in cups. Bras are uncomfortable enough as it is.

I went and bough a strapless one for shopping and it felt fine in store. I put it on to go shopping and I hated every minute of it. The bridal shop I bought my dress from put me in one of their strapless bustiers and it was glorious! Lol I need to find one now because I desperately want some shapeware

Glad you figured it out eventually. The bridal store I went to recommended I try dresses on without a bra. The dresses were all super comfortable and flattering without it, so much more practical

Hahaha thank goodness I figured it out when I was getting dressed! I did however have to put wash clothes under my boobs so they stayed up lol!

I decided to do this with my dress too! I originally tried it on with one of those strapless corset things at my fitting until my seamstress said the dress has so much boning I could skip it. I felt so much better!

Is it sad that that is one of my top things on my list while wedding dress shopping 😂 I don’t Want to have to wear one for my dress lol. Can I ask about shapewear? Did you wear shapewear? I should look and see if there is already a discussion about this but I’m wondering if that’s something that most brides get or if they go without? The bridal consultants talk about it a lot so I wasn’t sure

I too went braless .... my seamstress suggested it and it worked out perfectly. I am pretty large (DD cup) so I was sure surprised that braless was the best solution. I danced the night away and everything stayed in place :-)
