Trunk Shows...worth it?

LoveBubbles, on April 25, 2015 at 4:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

There is an upcoming trunk show (about a month from now) for a designer I am very interested in at a bridal salon near my house. I was not planning to shop for a bridal dress until end of July because I am losing weight from surgery and my doctor expects mid-summer to be about the time I plateau.

So my question is: Are trunks show worth it to move up when i go dress shopping? I would just order a size down and hope it would not be too big.

At trunk shows you can expect about 10-15% off the normal dress price. I guess it depends on if you are more concerned about saving a little money or your weight. Good luck.

Now that I am thinking about it there might be a catch 22 situation. If i go early, buy the dress, save the money it is very likely I will have to turn around and spend the money on more extensive alterations. Whereas if I wait, buy the dress in a more accurate size, I didn't get a discount but i didn't have to pay a higher price for alterations either.

    UGH.... I never help myself.

Trunk shows usually have a larger dress selection from that designer so if you go that day you may be able to get a dress the shop doesnt usually carry.

I went to a trunk show recently and was not impressed. To be honest, I felt it was a waste of my time. The discount was not that much. The most I saw was 30% off.

I purchased my dress at a trunk show. I had been shopping and didn't find what I wanted. I went to the trunk show and found my dress. I never would have gotten to try the dress on so I am a big fan of trunk shows. Not sure how much weight your going to lose but you could order a size or two down.

I found my dress at a trunk show. I say you should definitely go. They'll bring in a huge selection. My dress was one that they actually didn't carry in the store. Only two shops in my state carry it. So if I hadn't went I never would've found my dress. So def go!

I bought my dress at a trunk show for a different designer than the dress I bought. It was kind of accidental that I had an appointment during their trunk show, and even with the extra designs, they didn't really have what I wanted. But my consultant grabbed dresses from a bunch of designers, and because they were having a trunk show in the bridal salon, I got 10% off of my dress...which allowed me to buy the sash I wanted (at 15% off) without feeling like it was too much of a stretch financially.
