Trumpet peti coats. Yay or nay

Amber, on June 24, 2019 at 10:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
So I have a mermaid gown, and it was suggested I buy a trumpet peti coat to wear under it. I’ve tried the dress both with and without it and I find that I like it better without it/ however the dress doesn’t flare out as much as a mermaid would without it. Looks more like a fit and flare. Anyone else have this issue?

Maybe remove a layer of the tulle so that the flare is a little less. I have a trumpet dress and like it without.... HOWEVER, I haven’t actually tried it with a slip yet. But I know that I don’t want a stiff flare at the bottom and I prefer it to freely flow.

Yes I was thinking of removing one layer of toole. There’s about 3 layers lol! I need the slip because my seamstress had to remove one of the 3 slips the dress came with and now it is a tad see through

I have a mermaid style dress and got a trumpet petticoat. The skirt on my dress is all ruffles. My dress is already full without the petticoat, but I like it a lot more with the petticoat because it makes the bottom really big!

    Hey Amber!

If you prefer the look of your dress without a trumpet petticoat, then I think that is your question answered. You don’t have to add a petticoat just to people know that you bought a mermaid gown. If you like your dress the way it is now, then there is no need to add a petticoat.

I would only suggest you getting one if you personally prefer the look of your dress with it.

What is the rest of your dress like?
