Trick to getting into trumpet dress with petticoat??

Ok ladies. The struggle is real!!!! My dress is pretty tight and I’m wearing a petticoat underneath. I’m struggling with getting into both the petticoat AND the dress. Over the head destroys my hair (and I will have braids so it would be more then a quick fix once inside the dress) and stepping in makes the petticoat bunch up so badly and it’s almost impossible to smooth it back down. What is everyone doing? Is there a trick or solution???

Is there a way to add tulle (or another fabric underneath) to the dress in alterations instead? My mermaid/trumpet dress had layers or tulle already in the bottom portion of the dress so I didn’t need to add a petticoat.

We did the overhead thing at my wedding. It didn’t destroy my hair, I was wearing it half up half down though.

For bathroom visits, my bridesmaids had to help me get everything smoothed out. Because when I’d pull up the skirt and petticoat, it would get all bunched up. On of then would go under and gently tug on layers, lol, it was funny to see.

Is there any way you can put a shower cap or even plastic bag over your hair to protect it while bringing the petticoat and dress over your head?
