Tree Planting Ceremony?

Emily, on January 23, 2020 at 11:08 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6

Has anyone done this or seen it done? FH and I want to do something different for our ceremony after saying our written vows and I wanted to do a hand binding, but he's been to so many weddings that do it. We are getting married in an outside garden area and my family comes from all gardeners and farmers so it fits. I'm just wondering if anyone has seen where the bride and groom plant a tree together and it's explained that as the tree grows and is nurtured so is your love growing and being nurtured or something similar. Is that too odd?

I've been to one wedding where they did something like this. They used soil from both of their childhood homes to plant the tree. My only concern would be where the tree is actually going to stay permanently. Is the house that you're in now your forever home?

My FH and I own our home and plan on staying there awhile. We are having the ceremony and the reception at my mom's forever home. She has a massive lot of land where she does greenhouse farming (like I said, my whole family comes from gardeners :p) so the plant that we plant together could stay in a nice pot or her land or ours. I'm just wondering logistically, is it odd to bring out a bag of dirt at a ceremony, even if it is from 2 different places?

The one that I saw, they kept the dirt in jars with lids. I didn't think it was odd at all!

I've been to a wedding where the bride and groom had a small tree (still in a decorative planter) on a table behind them and watered it as a part of the ceremony. Then they took it home and planted it together.

My brother-in-law wanted to do this, but they didn't know where to have the tree planted after the ceremony. Instead they had dirt from the state the bride was born and dirt from where the groom was born and they poured it into a jar then that dirt was going to be used to plate a tree in a park near where they live and their honor. This was all explained by their officiant.
