Tree Planting Ceremony

Bo Leigh, on April 8, 2017 at 9:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

FH is a forester. With that being said, he wants to do a tree planting ceremony that I jokingly brought up after a pinterest filled day.

Has anyone done one? How long do they take? Are they super messy? Any advice?

Thanks!

We are doing one as well. FH works for an environmental council so it was really one of the only unity ceremonies that appealed to us as a couple. We plan on planting the tree in pot instead of the actual ground and then dumping our different jars of dirt into the pot. I'm sure it will be a little messy but we are also getting married at a camp so we will already be out in the woods.

Great idea. Beats letting nasty helium balloons into the atmosphere.

I've never heard of this but I think it's super unique to you and that makes it even more special. Smiley smile

Some of my couples have done this for their unity ceremony. It's just a very short part of the service following the ring exchange. The bride and groom place a scoop or two of soil into a planter with a hand shovel while the officiant explains the symbolism. It's not messy at all. The tree is later actually planted into the ground. Best wishes!

Rather than deal with dirt, I have my couples water a potted tree/plant.

I saw this once at a wedding and it was beautiful. The mothers of the bride and groom each brought a jar of dirt from their home that they added to the potted tree and then the couple watered the tree.
