Treat for Lunch when shopping for bridal gown?

Sarah, on October 8, 2014 at 1:23 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 20

As the bride should I be treating my guests to lunch when we go shopping for my dress? I would love to if money were no object, but I'm taking 3 or 4 ladies with me and it would easily be over $100. I was thinking maybe I could treat for a round of drinks instead? Or is it bad if I do neither?! Help!

I treated the people I brought with me to lunch. It was just my mom, my MOH and my FMIL. I think it was around $50 for the 4 of us.

I don't think it's required but it's always nice to treat your friends to a free meal and/or drinks

I treated everyone to brunch. It was my mom, my 2 sisters, my daughter, and 2 aunts. It was Mother's Day so I killed two birds with one stone

I didn't. I don't think you need to. I went with my mom and sister and we went in the morning and were done before lunch. Just went home for lunch.

Do what works for you and your friends/family.

I've been wondering the same thing! I could have around 4-5 people come with me and I'm afraid it could get pricy.

I would think it depends on the time of day. If you're meeting mid afternoon, maybe you could do brunch beforehand if you're worried about cost. I read you're not supposed to go wedding dress shopping when you're hungry, anyway.

I also like Sara's Taco Bell and Budweiser idea. Smiley smile

I went with my mom, dad, and sister in a snow storm! We did stop for lunch and they treated... but that's because we didn't have a choice it was a white out! Hit up the liquor store for a nice bottle of wine and do some make ahead trays (fruit, veg, dips, dessert)... inexpensive way of treating your ladies if you feel you'd like to... Smiley smile Also a good time to discuss all wedding preparations while you have them all together!

The first time we went to look at dresses, I took FSIL and we got Subway. We're super classy ladies like that.

If it's middle-of-the-day sorta time and not when they may have intended to have an actual lunch - it might be nice to take them to a cafe sorta place? Coffee, soup, bit o cake.. that sorta deal. Wouldn't be too expensive but still a nice gesture.

I did this, lunch and champagne, and yes it was over $100. But they loved it.

I think you can do a casual lunch/brunch for under $25/pp. It doesn't need to be anything super fancy. Any gesture you can give is fine, whether its a round of drinks or grabbing ice cream after.
