Hey loves I'm back🤗 ok so I'm a June '21 bride so I want a sunset outside type ceremony. Our colors are blk and gold. So very elegant. How far were you/are u willing to travel for ur venues? I found a beautiful lakefront style venue but it's 6hrs away.. but it's soooo nice and inexpensive. I guess since we're like 18mon out I feel stupid stressed... Help!!!

My FH and I are getting married in my hometown which is 400 miles away from where we live.

Truthfully for me it depends on my relationship with the person. I took a Friday off for a good friend of mine for her wedding that was 4 hours away and I had to get a hotel. If it was someone I am not that close with then not sure I would. I have traveled for weddings so ultimately it will be the decision of the guest. However, I feel you two should have the venue you want and not worry about who may or may not show in my opinion. Smiley smile

For me personally I would only travel 6 hours for a wedding if it was a close family or friend. If it was someone that I'm not close with then I would decline

As a guest, if it was a family member I was close to, or a close friend then I'd go. Any relationship outside of that, I would debate whether or not I would go. Mostly due to the fact that I'd have to budget for a gift, travel expenses, and lodging.

As a bride, I would give myself a little wiggle room. Our venue is 2 hours away but fit our needs perfectly so we chose it rather than the ones closer to home! I don't think I would choose one outside of 3 hours away.

I think it depends whether you are the bride/groom or a guest.

As a guest, I personally consider anything more than a one hours’ drive away to be a ‘destination’ wedding, particularly if it involves overnight accommodation. I loathe destination weddings because they are so financially burdensome to attend, but, ultimately, it is your day so you pick what you want. All I can say in that regard is be prepared that any wedding which requires people to cover some distance, you will have a lower attendance rate (just to keep in mind when choosing venues etc).

To clarify, do you mean how far away from the couple's residence is the wedding held or how far do the guests across the country/globe have to travel to get there?

We're having ours in the same major metro area we live in. Our guests will be traveling from everywhere and no one has had any issues because it's common and customary to travel.
