Travel arrangements for officiant

Heather, on February 26, 2020 at 5:04 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5
I want my pastor from my youth group/church I went to in high school in CA to officiate our wedding in CO. Is it customary to pay for their travel and lodging as payment? Or would I give them $ for simply officiating and they figure it out? CO does not require additional registrations from out of state clergy members.

I would give them $ for their officiant fee and have them figure it out BUT some vendors do add some travel fee. But seeing as you have much more of a personal connection to them and they’re not just any vendor it seems like maybe you’d want to try to be a bit more accommodating if you can

I would probably pay for their travel & accommodations unless they build that into their fee.

You should pay for travel expenses for any vendor that is traveling for your wedding.

I’d pay for the accommodations and travel expenses. That’s not uncommon when you’re asking a vendor to travel.

I would pay for everything for them. We had our favorite DJ come from PA to FL for our wedding and we paid for his flight, accommodations, rented all the equipment, etc AND paid him. Consider that person is also away from their family and friends.
