Travel agent or DIY honeymoon?

Is it better to use a travel agent or book your trip yourself? We have never taken a big trip like this where we needed flights and reservations and stuff, so I'm a little out of my league here. However, I know nothing about travel agents and how they work. Advice?

I would use a Travel Agent. They are free, they can answer all your questions, and they have usually stayed at the resort they are recommending to you.

We travel all the time and DH does all the planning. we've never used a travel agent and it's not like we're against it, we just haven't needed it. DH is really control freaky and he usually plans our trip itineraries perfectly. we always have a great time.

We're using a travel agent for everything. FH has been to Europe on his own; however, we both thought using an agent would be better--with work/wedding/house and just life, I didn't want to plan another dang thing lol.

Hi MrsS2015, Congrats on your engagement and upcoming wedding. As a travel professional of course I would say use a travel agent Smiley smile

Just like every profession, there are some that are better than others. I can say for the way that I work with my clients, I take a lot of time in fine tuning what they are looking for and customize a honeymoon based on their wants/needs & budget. I love adding other special touches when possible. I also look around for the best prices as well.

There is TOO much information out there and many times different sites and opinions will conflict with each other, so it's nice to have someone tell you exactly how a destination or a resort is either from first-hand experience and from feedback.

Feel free to check my storefront out, I'd be happy to assist you.

    Happy Planning!

    Krystle

A travel agent definitely takes a lot of the stress off your shoulders, and many of them don't charge for this service. They get commission from the hotels and tour operators they work with. They usually are frequent travelers themselves so they have some great suggestions for things to do! I was thinking about booking it myself because I thought it would be cheaper, but if you find a certain price online they can usually match it or get a better deal if you let them know about it.

We used a travel agent to plan our week-long honeymoon at a Sandals in Jamaica. Most travel agents do not charge any fees, and their inside advice and information is PRICELESS! I would not recommend using any wedding/event planners that are also "Vacation Specialists" though. Use a travel agent whose only job is to plan vacations.

Thank you so much for all your responses! I think we will go with a TA. Any suggestions on how to find one? We're planning to honeymoon in Colorado.

Hello from Kelly Burnett, first off a big Congrats on your engagement. I know planning a honeymoon is super exciting but can also be tough to make decisions. There is nothing wrong with reaching out for help and getting advise and opinions from some one that has probably been there or has sent many clients, and for instance in my case, there is never an extra fee or charge so nothing to loose. I personally have traveled the world and educated myself on many of the resorts and destination and I am always more than happy to share my information, make suggestions and answer questions. I also can price match or beat any of the online booking sites so it really is a win win for my clients. I hope this helps a bit, your welcome to check out my store front here on wedding wire. Good luck with all your wedding planning and remember to have fun!

Love more.... Dream more....Travel more..... Kelly
