Transportation

Summer, on April 3, 2023 at 9:47 AM Posted in Planning 1 5

I am really struggling with the day of transportation.

The bridal party is getting ready at a hotel, so the bus will be picking us up from there, going to take photos, and then dropping us off at the venue an hour before the ceremony starts.

During that time, my family will be there setting up the ceremony. (reception will be set up ahead of time)

The shuttle then will be picking up any guests from the hotel to take to the venue and then shuttling back to the hotel at the end of the night.

Where I'm stuck:

Do I just have my family leave their cars at the venue if they are taking the shuttle at the end of the night?

How many times do I have the shuttle go back & forth?

What are you doing?!

Hi Summer and congratulations!!! For our wedding (on a yacht), there were several parking garages and then of course, those who reserved rooms at the two blocked hotels and were shuttled. At the end of the night, the shuttle made about 3-4 round-trip (2 drivers split the task). I think it depends on how many passengers the shuttle can accommodate and how many people you have going back to the hotel at the end of your event. Hope it all works out.

If they plan to take the bus back at the end of the reception can your family members take an Uber or car service to the venue? Alternatively, if they don’t want to or shouldn’t drive back they can Uber back in the morning to get the car. You can also do an extra bus run if that’s in the budget.

Weddings I’ve been to have done either a continuous loop or two or three scheduled pick up and drop off times on each end. Distance and price may be considerations.

Is your shuttle company giving you an option for pick-up times? If they haven’t said, maybe check with them first. Ours has a set schedule, so we didn’t have to figure any of it out (but also had no alternatives).

I would see about having a shuttle trip to take family to the ceremony space to set up so they don't have to worry about leaving and going back for their cars the next day. Either that or have them drive back to the hotel after they're done setting up so they can get on the shuttle arriving to take hotel guests to the venue.

Based on the number of people you have to shuttle, the shuttle service should know how many trips to make. But I think otherwise the answer would definitely be "as many as it takes to get everyone where they need to go".

If they are taking shuttles, then why would their cars be at the venues? I would carpool in that situation which is very common for guests.
