Transportation

Are you providing transportation for guest? (from hotel to venue) I feel like I might now in the world of Ubers, I think it a good place to save money in my budget.

We provided a shuttle to/from our venue and hotel room block, though the hotel was a 25-minute drive (there are no hotels around our venue), and not too many Ubers typically available. If your venue is in an area that has plenty of Ubers and close hotels, I think it's totally fine to skip providing transportation (though it's a nice gesture if it's in your budget).

Thank you! Those are all very good points, the hotel is about 25 minutes. I should look into if ubers come to the venue

We are not providing transportation. We only have 2 guests staying in the hotel, so it would be a waste.

We aren't providing transportation either but out church and venue are within 1 mile of each other and most guests are staying at the venue or within walking distance. I think if you have a bit of a drive it's good to offer transport for guests. You can also do uber vouchers now a days and give your guests a code to use and pay for their transport that way.

No. It’s not common in our circles to provide transportation. Adults are responsible for their own transportation and many prefer to drive their own or rental vehicles. If they choose to drink, they arrange their own taxi or a designated driver.

Nope. We are doing a lot already for our guests. I put an Uber and Lyft calculator link on our wedding site under the question "Do we need to rent a car?". Since we live in a huge beach area, I think a lot of our guests will want their own transportation so they can explore on their own.

Most of our guests are from out of state, and our area is notorious for horrible traffic (plus who wants to drive in an area they're unfamiliar with), so minimizing guest's obligation to transport themselves day-of was a big priority for us.

Our reception is in the same building as a hotel, but with a separate entrance and elevator to the rooftop venue. We got a block of rooms at that hotel so nobody would have to worry about driving or calling a ride after the night ended.

We also booked a shuttle to take guests from that hotel to the church for the ceremony and then back to the hotel afterwards. All the shuttling is during daytime hours, so if guests wanted to book into a different hotel within walking distance (and there are tons), they would still be able to take advantage of the shuttle service. Whether guests actually use the shuttle would be anyone's guess, but I have had a lot of people say how much they appreciated that we booked it.

I think we are probably going to do wedding Uber. You will be able to send a code to the guests for it. They can only use it for the time frame you set and the to and from location that you set. Whatever money from the vouchers that isn’t used you get back. Our venue is less than a mile from our hotel. We often Uber around the city so we know it shouldn’t be more than $12 per trip. We don’t have many people coming in from out of town but planned on putting $20 per trip ($40 round trip) for each couple that wants to stay at the hotel. I would rather over pay upfront and get money back than a shuttle that’s a fixed rate.
