Transportation RSVP?

Amanda, on March 31, 2014 at 8:49 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 3

I'm working on addressing out invitations to send out the end of this week, and my fiance posed an interesting question this past weekend. About 85-90% of our guests will be coming from out of town/other states, so we have already arranged for buses to transport guests between the main hotel where we have a block of rooms and the wedding venue. We also did this since we are providing an open bar. We have a few guests that like to do their own thing, so they will be staying at different hotels/campgrounds and driving themselves.

Do any of you have any cute/practical ideas for us to attempt to get a head count on who all intends to take advantage of the buses? We have a (very) rough idea, but my fiance thought it would be great to have a closer head count on who all we should expect so we're not short any seats on the bus. We already have our RSVP cards printed and ready to go, so it isn't an option to add to the RSVP cards. Thanks for the help everyone!!

Use the website if you have one. My fbil had a shuttle from the venue to various hotels and people signed up on the website

For out hotel that we booked, the rule was if we booked about 10 rooms, most of them would have to be filled and then would provide transportation from the reception to hotel. we sent out a facebook thing reminding those to book in advance. we have most of them filled so we are good. and now we don't need police escort at the reception.

Thanks for the input ladies! I'll definitely be monitoring the number of rooms booked in our hotel block of rooms. I think I'll most likely put an RSVP page on our website for the transportation....I just hope our guests remember to use it! I know we've been very open about all of the pertinent info being available on our website, including putting the web address on or Save-The-Dates, but a surprising number of people still ask us directly about details that are clear on the website :-/
