Transportation options

Hey so some background info, my sister is essentially helping me plan my wedding because she just had hers two years ago. She’s asking me about what type of limo service do I want for my wedding day. My fiance and I are super low key and we honestly don’t see the point in getting a limo.We think its too much and a waste of money. To me, as long as it gets me to my first look and ceremony/reception in one piece then that’s all I care about. Of course Im not going to pull up in a beat up car but I’m not sure of what route we should go with. We’re not using a car in any sort of pictures anyway. Am I being too frugal or should I just put my foot down? Do limo services offer non limo cars for these events? Should I just have someone I know drive us (4 in the bridal party) to the wedding?

We didn't pay for any sort of special transportation. I rode with my mom to the venue that morning and my husband drove to the venue in our Jeep, which is what we left in. Like you said, we didn't have a vehicle in any of our pictures. Unless your sister is paying for it, I would tell her that you aren't interested in having any sort of limo services. I'm with you 100% that it's a waste of money in my book, but everyone has different must-haves for their wedding day!

If the ceremony and reception is in the same spot you don't really need a limo. You can get a town car or other nicer car if you want, if not just ask someone in the family or friend to wash and clean their car and drive you. I'm getting my hair and makeup done at the hotel, and then driving a regular car to the ceremony/reception site where there's a small bridal suite where we're going to put our dresses on at.

I am not having any kind of special transportation. As long as I don't have to drive in my parents death trap of a van (the exhaust comes in through the air vents), I will be happy. I have been considering a big UBER XL for everyone. Smiley smile

That’s a good idea to get an UBER! And yea we’re getting ready at my sisters. So we just need a car(maybe a cab) to the hair salon and back. Then just one car to the first look and the ceremony/reception is just 5 minutes from there. Thanks for the idea

Yeah exactly. We just need a car, maybe a cab to the salon and back then a ride to the first look and the ceremony/reception are in the same place and its just 5 minutes from there.

Yep! I don't want anyone to be driving drunk, so I am heavily encouraging guests to carpool in ubers and lyfts. Smiley smile

My argument for bridal transportation stems from reception I went to. The wedding party showed up slowly. Finally the bride and the groom. But we were still waiting on the last 2 bridesmaids and groomsmen. They just decided to make a couple stops and showed up an hour later than the bride and groom... who already showed up an hour late. At that point I decided the bridal party was going to be riding together. No matter what.
So limo, uber, whatever, very pro shared vehicle.

So for us, the ceremony and reception are at the same place so special transportation for everyone doesn't make sense. We will drive someone's car(s) to the salon in the morning, then back to the venue. FH will ride with his family and groomsmen to the venue with his parents (his dad is a freak about schedules so they will be early for sure).

That being said....we have a 2020 Ford Super Duty truck for our "getaway" vehicle. We both work for Ford and we met building the trucks in 2015. Headquarters is allowing us a truck for the weekend and I couldn't be more excited!!
