Transportation- end of night

Jessica, on February 23, 2018 at 9:44 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

We plan on getting some kind of transportation to take us and the the bridal party from the hotel to where our photos will be taken (before the ceremony). After we are done with photos and the shuttle/limo drops us off at the venue, we are thinking of having it go back to the hotel for pickups for any guest staying there since we will only have to add an extra hour or so.

My question is, do we need to provide transportation back to the hotel at the end of the night. The hotel is about 4 minutes walking distance from the venue (2 blocks), through a very nice part of town. We will also have complimentary valet parking at the venue. It will actually take more time to drive to and from than walking because of one way streets. My mom feels like we should have it both ways but I don't know if it's worth the added expense. I'm totally fine walking back to the hotel after the reception, and if the weather is bad (knock on wood), I'll call an Uber. I'm a pretty easy going bride but I don't want to have a bad vibe with our guest by not providing appropriate transportation. Thanks in advance!

I agree with Mom. If you have transportation one way, you should have it both ways.

Yeah I would provide it both ways if you can. It's not far to walk but I would be a little confused as a guest .. also I'm not sure where you are located but if it is cold or snowy at all in your area in December I wouldn't be walking anywhere in my dress heels.

Thanks everyone! Good point about the weather. In 2017, Dec 1 (our wedding date) was in the 50/60s but this year it could be 30 and snowing. Weather is so unpredictable. Edit* We're getting married in Philadelphia.

Depending on how many guests you have, you might be able to do Uber events for everyone for the ride home. That could be cheaper than having the shuttle/limo for extra time. If it's snowy/icy the 4 minute walk could be tough, especially if you have any elderly guests.
