Trains

Liz, on March 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
So my dress has a small train on it because they apparently don't make wedding dresses without them 🙄 How are you supposed to move around in these things and dance in them!?

Your seamstress can add a bustle to the dress so that after the ceremony, the train can be buttoned onto the dress and kept off the floor! There are many different ways to bustle a dress. Check out this article for info on the different options and what they each look like: https://www.theknot.com/content/amphtml/what-is-a-bustle

Just get a bustle. I have a small train also, and a simple 3-point bustle was $50.

Yes on the bustle. I think i got a 3pt bustle. I wanted a dress with no train but like you said they mostly all have bustles. Once u find the perfect dress its more worth it to say yes to the dress instead of saying no because of the train. That is unless you have a 10ft train lol.

Every seamstress will add a bustle if they aren't already able to attach via buttons. They will show your attendants how to do them..

WHAT. THE. HECK. How did I go to three separate bridal salons, two more than once, all with in house alterations while complaining about trains the entire time and not have this mentioned to me once!?

I got a bustle. It's simple and my dress still looks nice without the dreaded "butt poof" that some bustles give. I wanted a nice long train.

    Dear Liz,

Possibly because it's at an extra cost and spoken about with a seamstress, and not the sales attendant. When I chose my dress, they brought the seamstress out to discuss alterations with me before I purchased it to make sure I was getting what I wanted. For example, we're removing the cups and I originally HATED the idea of the bustle, they all looked so terrible to me and ruined the lines of the dress. However, the third time I tried it on after purchase the head seamstress came out and showed me what she called a "Bubble" bustle. I can't find the "official" name online, but it's basically where you flip the train under the dress to where it looks as though it ends at your feet, rather than flaring out.

My dress is especially tricky because of all of the layers; it's a large ballgown with a pretty long train. I wish I could just leave it all night, we're not big on dancing, but everyone's convinced me that someone will eventually step on itXD !

Anyways, thanks for your post! Make sure to look at all the bustle options so that you can chose one that's right for you!
