Train or no Train

Susan, on August 23, 2019 at 4:40 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I just love looking at all the beautiful dresses. I have been married before, so am not doing a big wedding. I bought a non-traditional wedding dress. Just a white dress I saw online and fell in love with. I'm not sure how to describe it, except it kind of looks like a mermaid, but it's also a hi-lo dress. Anyway here's the back...and that definitely is not me in the picture!

I want to know if you have decided on having a train or not, and your reasons. I love all this wedding stuff and can't get enough. I have done all I can do and am just waiting until it gets closer to finish up.

It's my second marriage and I hadn't planned on a train, the dress I picked has a small one. Nothing over the top. I'll be 50 on my wedding day and I didn't want to look like an older bride trying to be young. I hadn't planned to try my dress on even, my niece/MOH picked it and I tried it on for her. I think this is as long as I was willing to go for a train. You can't see it great, but you can see a bit of the train

I just got married for the second time at 52 and opted for a dress with no train. I wanted something simple and not over the top. This is my dress but not me. I think your dress is really pretty.

I love your dress. I would have never guessed you will be 50. I just turned 55 last week, and am afraid my dress is too "you" for me. I saw it and fell in love, and when It arrived I loved it even more!

I didn't want a train in general just because I felt it would be hard to walk in. When I tried on gowns with trains, it was.

Wow! Your dress is awesome, so I had to go look through all your wedding pictures. I love the sunflowers too!

Your dress is so pretty. I say if you want a train, have it. Its totally a personal preference. Life is too short to worry about age appropriateness. Its your wedding, do what makes you happy. I'll be 52 when we get married. It's both of ours first marriage and I'm going all out. I haven't shopped for my dress yet but I plan on a traditional wedding gown with a train.

Thank you. I try and say age is just a number, but i'll admit turning 50 is a bit overwhelming. I'm getting married two weeks after! I love your dress. I'd actually planned on something like that. We're not having a big fancy wedding

This will be my 2nd marriage as well but my first one was a courthouse (thank God!). This time around, there will be a big wedding. My dress will be custom made so I only have a sketch of it but I definitely wanted a longer train than the original dress I saw. I've just always had a thing for trains. They're so elegant and princess-like. For my dress, I made a few other minor changes as well. I'm so excited and I can't wait to get it!

I love your dress! It’s my second wedding as well, and I decided to go with a tea length dress with a tulle ball-gown-like skirt. I wanted something fun!

I looked for a month, and changed my mind several times. But when I saw this one, that was it for me. And it was inexpensive too!

My first wedding, I actively avoided a train. My second, I had one only because my wife did, and I wanted to coordinate. (I probably wouldn't have even had a wedding dress at all the second time except that my wife wanted one.)

I don't really see a lot of benefit to them. At most, they look good for 20 minutes (assuming you even like the look of them at all), and then you have to bustle them up in order to be able to walk or dance at your reception.

I had my train removed during alterations - I didn't want to deal with bustling it.
